One of the best freeware aircraft ever for FS2004 (in my opinion)

Scotty,

The AVRO by Nigel Richardson is indeed a remarkable model and definitely among the very best of the FS2004 freeware. But declaring something "the best" often doesn't do justice to aother model.

What about the wonderful models Milton Shupe gave us.

Personally I have a weak spot for the models by Manuele Villa. Incredible nice models often with great gadgets (try to navigate the SM.79 Passeggeri). And all painted with Manuele's silk texturing!

The models by Robert Sanderson also have something special for me as well. He introduced some amazing animations in his models. The Hurricane had a moving antenna wire and the pilot had a moving scarf. This shirt of the pilot of this Stearman is moving in the wind.

Just to name a few other extra ordinary freeware models. But I'm sure people will come up with other models, from which I will think "why didn't I mention those models?".

Cheers,
Huub

Definitely enjoying those as well… flown them a lot in the past… and still do.. for example the Grumman Mallard… which is one of my favorites from Milton Shupe.

What Stearman is that? looks fantastic… specially because it looks like a Photoreal paint… is that downloadable on the library here?

Edit: found it… :D

Hello Huub,
you are absolutely right, and that is why I have chosen my words very carefully.
I deliberately didn't write "the best" but rather "one of the best" (perhaps I should have been more specific and said "one of the most visually beautiful") and that is indeed a big difference.
You’ve attributed something to me—surely unintentionally—that isn't the case. I suspect you might not have read my text correctly.
The Freeware Aircraft by Milton Shupe and Team, or Edgar Guinart López of Aeroproyecta, Manfred Jahn, Dave Garwood, Hiroshi Igami TDS, Kirill Konovalov, IRIS, Tim "Piglet" Conrad (where should I stop?) also rank among the best freeware aircraft in my opinion.
Each one is a highlight in its own right, and I hope you’ll agree with me on that point finally.:very_drunk:

Hi Huub,
i suspect there won't be enough space here to showcase photos of all the most beautiful, best, coolest, etc., freeware aircraft.
But I’d be happy to be proven wrong.:D

Just a color test with the "new" GPU. :wiggle:

I'm not up to some your levels but I wanted to see if there's an improvement.

I'm really close to finished tweaking all the color variables and brightness. :dizzy:

never heard of a payware one by Aerosoft, but there is, in addition to the freeware Virtavia Caribou, also a payware one by Virtavia: https://www.pcaviator.com/store/product.php?productid=18651
Whoa, I want to give volks a heads-up on the business practices of the PC Aviator site! It seems there is definitely something fishy going on there. I bought the Caribou from Alphasim many years ago, and they changed their name to Virtavia, still offering the same payware aircraft, then they released a large number of Alphasim files as freeware, the caribou among them. When you mentioned the Caribou, I went to that site and was surprised to see the exact screenshots that were used to describe the Alphasim/Virtavia Caribou that I bought so many years ago! They even describe the FSX version as a port over from FS9, by some remarkable coincidence,so was the Alpha/Virtavia version! I strongly suspect that these jokers are reselling Alphasim freeware. I would stay clear of them if I was you. If you are interested in an aircraft from PC Aviator, go to https://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/index.php , chances are, they will have it.... for FREE!

Nothing fishy there… this website had those addons listed since the beginning of Alphasim/Virtavia… and i guess they just had not noticed that Alphasim/Virtavia has put them out for free since… Even Simmarket still sells Addons which are allready described and released as Freeware nowadays… but i think that will change soon, since FS9 addons are getting rare these days… as most people had moved on anyways… so FS9 is not supported anymore in any ways… Just wait and see, it just needs an update at PCAviator… eventhough this Site (and the listed FS9 Addons have been dead - not supported anymore) for quite a while…

Airbasil, that makes sense, but people should be reminded to do very careful research before they plunk their money down. It is becoming increasingly easy to get ripped off nowadays.

Absolutely… Same opinion here… We’ll see if they ever update it… or if they are just up to get some more profits out of there Website…

Speaking of one of the most impressive Aircraft in FS9, provided by Milton Shupe and Dave Maltby,
The Grumman Mallard is one of my Absolute Favorites…
