FSX Auster Autocat uploaded

For many of us the remarkable thing about Dave's Autocrat is the quality of his modeling. There have also been a number of remarkable paint schemes, fictitious or not. If you don't like them DON'T use them! Crickey it's supposed to be fun ok?
 
Ok some further research..ZK-AXO was an J-1 Autocrat but was modified at one point into a J-1B Aiglet as per the picture...so yes my picture is shown is an Aiglet and I was partly wrong but before spouting off about how inaccurate I am, I suggest you do some research.......

Congrats on your first post here and it being completely inappropriate and not to forget to mention, it's destructive instead of being constructive, "to each their own" I wish more people would abide by that one simple maxim. Sorry, just seems like a big waste of time and energy.

Mr Watkins, I do not know where you hail from (UK maybe) but your statement is UTTER RUBBISH!!

Every VH-*** repaint is dead accurate. Most of them are from photos available on www.airliners.net as well as other sites.

Where do you hide your repaints as I don't see many of them at CBFS.

Well chaps, it doesn't matter to me how accurate your paints are as this isn't real life. So keep up the good work and ignore rude comments by people with no trace of social skills. :ernae:

Always good to hear someone likes your work, thank you for your kind words of support, Peter.

I had a look for the 20+ accurate schemes, but they are not that easy to find unfortunately, I might have taken a look otherwise to see how it should be done.

meanwhile, here are two more repaints:
(Please consider them fictional.
Although real aircraft may exist that exhibit a passing resemblance to these repaints, it was never my intention to try and copy the original aircraft.
These repaints are purely for your enjoyment and any similarity to existing aircraft, or to aircraft that have existed, is purely coincidental....yeah, right)

Getting a re-paint 100% accurate is not that easy, owners have a habit of changing schemes, from one year to the next.

I would not use some fictional schemes (say a USCG white and red or a 1942 Luftwaffe, for example), but each to their own. If it were a commercial product sold with such schemes then I would 'spout off', but if people want to enjoy this aircraft in their own choice of colours, so be it. If you owned a real one, you could paint how you wanted it!
 
I couldn't care less whether a repaint is accurate, or fictional, as long as it's well done and looks good :)

Here's to all the painters who've taken the time to repaint my Auster :icon29:
 
Jankees: Love the VH-KBA repaint...Will it be here on SOH? As for fiction vs real, who cares? We are flying a simulator, after all...(I make turns just to watch the leather strap swing around!)...If I had a real Auster, (or any real plane for that matter!) I would paint it the way I wanted, probably ugly as hell...But I'd like it! Thanks for all of your hard work...

All I know is this is a beautiful model, with some beautiful repaints (ta for all the Aussie ones, Jankees - they are great!).
Dave - I really love the handles that swing in the VC (only noticed that last night!). This is one awesome little plane! :applause::applause::applause:
 
Jankees, that last screen shot of the VH-KBA paint (very Nice colors) the scenry in the back ground, If I may, where is it? looks like a great place to fly this wonderful bird.
 
Probably the most infamous Autocrat was G-AGXT. First registered in June 1946 this was owned by the Elstree Flying Club and was hired by a Donald Hulme who disposed of the body of his secretary over the Thames marshes - not all at once, but in rather small pieces. Not very nice at all.

My thoughts entirely. We've taken Beagle Terriers (ex Auster AOP.6s) to airshows and 'anoraks - i.e. spotters' have come up to us and said you cant have that aeroplane in those colours as its a civilian Terrier and not a 6. B*llo*ks......if they want to spend the time and the money on the rebuild as we have, then they can have it in any colour they like, but as it was originally to that airframe, then it is within every right to have it in its original colours.

If they dont like it tough!!

I would rather see something in an original scheme relevant to that particular model, than something a little out of the ordinary, but as you say, each to their own. Where I fly from, we like to get things correct (sometimes we're wrong - you cant be perfect everytime), but when possible we rectify the error to represent the real aeroplane. I've even seen serials change from white to black when new evidence has emerged. Its just nice to fly something that is true to life and not the figment of someone's imagination. This of course goes back to the original quote, but these aeroplanes are our part of our heritage and so making them that little bit more authentic, makes it all worthwhile.

I agree with the above posts. As I alluded to above not only the paint schemes change over time many Austers have been converted inot diffrent models over time as well so it gets confusing..plus the model designation system for Austers is also a bit confsuing..a bit like Waco.

In any case I dont mind ficticious repaints at all.

I've flown/in numerous types of Auster and for a company that was so prolific, there were so many variations, that at times I myself cant keep up with this or that version. As to people that are new to this aeroplane since Dave's creation then at times I can understand the confusion with different marques and versions, but an Autocrat is that and nothing else, not an Alpha, an Alpine or an Aiglet, but just an Autocrat. The classification of these could have been made a little easier, but nope it wasnt and so confusion reigns, not just for sim pilots but for real ones too!!

One of my latest additions to my logbook has changed its identity 3 times, so what is that? The first or last marque - its all so confusing!:)
