That's err.. striking Dave!!:biggrin-new:

.....and the real issue is that this paint scheme really existed. XS452 really wore pink when she was a part of the Akrotiri Station Flight in the early 1970s.
This all-over green (also XS452) was much better. The 'Fly United' looks good with a yellow background.

It's possible that had the Valkyrie remained relevant it might have ended up looking a little 'Blackbird'-ish ....;)

Just need to add some Squadie logos and such....

These are my last screenshots prior to a forced complete reinstall of FSX!
I'll be back!

Straight out of the "It's the little things" bin:
First time in a long while that I've noticed that FSX simulates moon phases and star formations.

JpTCxib.jpg

And pretty sure that it's some FSXWX, texture or Steve's DX10 shader magic, but the air moisture in front of the sickle is just too cool.

As are the twinkling stars and runway lights (courtesy of Steve's shaders), but these are hard to show off on screenshots.

XZ494 of 899NAS circa Jul '92.
Unfortunately, the maps won't allow 100% accuracy:dizzy:

Looks great! I'm also working on a FRS.1 paint :) I have tried a 801 NAS scheme from the Ark, but the rudder mapping is a mess and makes it impossible with the checker pattern. Something I discovered is that the red box on top of the wing/fuselage is to far forward and cut through on of the intakes(?) just behind the canopy. Move it 30 cm back and it should be good :)

I just cannot understand that it was possible to make such a bad Sidewinder replication. It must be the worst looking winder I have seen on a payware FSX model.. Even FS98 models had more convincing looking missiles... No rail either..

There are almost too many things wrong with the map to list JensOle:dizzy:

Panel lines on the rear fuse are at least 12 pixels out L/R (high/low).
The red X on the RH upper fuse is probably 2ft out compared to the Left. I note the PK maker didn't try to put X's at the fore/aft part of the maps (too difficult). I put yellow 'lift' hooks on the aft part where they should be and the map stretched so much, they were invisible!
The nose gear doors mirror so if titles are on the outside, they show on the inside reversed. I've yet to find where the RH gear door is on the map.
It's not possible to add the FRS Doppler panel below the pilot on the lower fuse. A stray poly from somewhere pulls grey in from somewhere!!
Panel lines and detail on upper/lower wing surfaces don't match.
The rear blade aerial on the nose should be offset and it's in-line. I've only found the rear fuse blade AE can be the correct colour.. all the others pull from the paint area they're in on the fuse.
The outer left pylon has placards but no line detail. The outer right pylon has line detail but no placards (the map shows 4 sets of placards for the 4 pylons.. not including the centre.. so where are they mapping to)???
The original maps (and original paints) show yellow tips on 2 of the pylon tips. This pulls back on the 3rd and is missing on the 4th despite the paint showing (on the map) in the same place. Not necessary for the FRS.1 thank goodness.
The FRS.1's rarely carried things on the centre pylon.. just tanks on the inners and sidewinders on the outers. Select tanks and you get a CBLS pod on the centre pylon.
It would be nice to remove the gun pods but you can't as far as I can see.
There's more but I think the point has been made. This is not the best mapped model in the history of payware!!

Other than that...

Dave and Jen please do release any paints you do for that Shar... only thinking the other day I was surprised that there where so few available for it.
