FSX Screenshots Here!!

@Scianoir

I like your Pacific Air Dash 7 screenshot.

Am I correct that Orbx offers Papua New Guinea land mesh. Am I correct or wrong?

Regards,

Aharon

Hi Aharon,

ORBX has the freeware ......

PNG Holgermesh Papua New Guinea

Pete.

I just meant that the mesh was free but if you wanted better looking/photo real textures you would probably have to by an add-on pack for PNG. I have the mesh and it works fine with the default P3D v4.5 textures but I don't have it in my FSX install as I never fly that anymore.

In the ORBX page about Holgermesh, there is a screenshot with an intriguing Junkers aircraft. After a bit of research, I think it might be Lionheart Creation (LHC) Junkers W-33 from 2007. Apparently it's a FS9 portover, or a FSX SP1 version, made 20 years ago, still for sale in a few places... LHC should release it as "free former-payware" aircraft, like GAS or Classic Hangars did recently, don't you think?

I found another FS9 portover Junkers for free, it's Ralf Kreibich W-34 (avsimrus, simviation...). Surprisingly quite ok in FSX!

I agree, but unfortunately most developers are not as generous as GAS or Classic Hangars. For the larger developers it might actually be a good PR move to offer their older FSX products as freeware with the proviso that they are offered without support but I suspect, with some, profit remains a big motive.

My contacts with Bill/William Ortis (Lionheart Creations) were always very positive, so you could drop him a request on his web-page: https://lionheartsimulations.com/ . It of course is free to ask.

But you should realise there can be quite some reasons why developers don't make their products available for free.
  • For instance fear for angry customers who paid for the product in the past and don't agree with with the decision to offer it for free. ( No problem when you stop your business, but image damage when you still produce payware products.)
  • Contractual issues with the resellers, for instance when the rights on the product are sold.
  • "Items, module or software" used in the models which aren't allowed to be "given away".
  • The model still generates money for the developer and reseller.
  • Model has several designers involved and who can all make finiancial claims.
  • The developer and owner aren't the same.
And when you use you imagination you can most probably find some other reason. In the end it is something which belongs to somebody else. So just as in the real world you simply can't claim it. And $15 for the complete package is perhaps a reasonable amount of money you can consider to spend.

Cheers,
Huub
