Hercules fans....you ain't gonna believe this...

Hopefully Blackbird gets with the program and gets their -J out sooner rather than later (those were Colin's exact words on their "State of the Sim" webcast back in December 2023). The disgust in the community is high enough at the moment that a well-documented, near study-level Herc (even a -J) would likely be snapped up...to the loss of some amount of Capt. Sim sales...

The stupid thing is there’s almost no crossover between people who buy liveries and people who download them. They would make more money overall if they didn’t alienate core sim enthusiasts with this dumb restriction. The marketplace livery buyers would still buy.

They lost my sale and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

I’m not sure if “any publicity is good publicity” is the case here. I used to trust them and buy any plane they made that I wanted to fly in the FSX/P3D days. Now I’m super-cautious.

If they do unlock the paints, I will put my money where my mouth is and buy this.

And hopefully they have learned a lesson about anti-customer behavior.

It's a buy for me if they do unlock the paints. I might also try the sound swap that was discussed on here before. I was wondering if using the sound from the KBT P-3 might work? That file is still up on .TO

If you replace Sounds just make sure to check sound folder after doing update lookup via ACE tool resets to the default Sounds and layout file as they are reset itself

TSS has a nice C-130 $11 (US) sound set for P3D that works...you overwrite the original sound files, then run Legacy Importer to update the .json. BTW...was just on the CS forum a minute ago. They censored (i.e. deleted) my comment AGAIN. I left them a gift comment: "Ah...I see I've been censored again by the Captain Sim Politboro..." Maroons...

How does one get the liveries that have been downloaded to appear in the game? Any bit of help is appreciated.

Switch on your mind. This H model with the cockpit model is great, but all other stuff isn´t. Sounds, flightdynamics, and the biggerst one: the poor systems simulation are not worth the price. Perhaps 15 bucks, but really not 40 EUR for this poor addon. I bought it, not knowing about the livery blockade.

And the tss sounds are much better for engines. But you will loose all cockpit sounds. And I bought the tss sounds, too. The bill is 54 EUR for a company, that is not really trustworthy in my eye.

Save your money for a better add-on. Perhaps C-130j, they are around the blocks.

Jim, at the moment most of repaints are not based on the LIVERY FIXER of flightsim.to, which allows normal repaint packages in community folder.

So you have to copy and paste the textures of your downloaded repaint in texture.USAF820057 of CS130. Keep aware that you paste only files with the exact file name. Make sure to save original texture.USAF820057 folder before you overwrite the textures.

I think there is no doubt that the MILVIZ 'J' when it eventually comes out will be of a significantly higher quality. However, there are still a lot of H models active around the World so that aircraft still has a good following [to me anyway]. That said many of the remaining H's have had upgrades to the avionics and engines/props so I think there would be room for another high quality C-130 H/E product. In the meantime though we can wait for the CS effort to come on sale and also for the Community to MoD it into a more acceptable form.

Significantly higher quality? Oh yes, this is easily done, because the CapainSim is a stun granade in case of systems. Pressurization? Hydraulics? Autopilot? TACAN? Weatherradar? Following complex flight plans? The actual CS model is only eye candy. And an expensive one at that.

You are right with the used H-Exterior-Model today, but the CS panel is an early E-Model, not a H-Model of today.

And please don't forget, Blackbird have developed and released some of the best MSFS airplanes. Think about the excellent C310 and the Turbo Porter. They will do the job, I am sure.

I'm trying to download about 6 C130 liveries. The Flightsim will not allow me as the Captcha check just gets in a circle and doesn"t stop.
Is there any way to fix it so I can get the downloads I need.

I see Captain Sim is working on an update for the C-130H and I just have to wonder is this going to be a "free" update? Nothing surprises me with them anymore.
