Good morning friends
concerning the Li-2 - It is difficult to say which one is better. I tried out both - and made a mix of them,LOl
In fact the V1.5 seem to be an evolution of the first one. But, there is always a "but", the cockpits (2D and VC)
of the first one looks nicer to me than those of the V1.5 variant
There is a thing that I find a bit curious: In the V.1.5 version the manual and the 2D panels correspont perfectly.
The pictures in the manual shows exactly the same as used in the 2D panel. INn the first variant the manual is the
same but the 2D panel are more as an evolution and are nicer than from the V1.5 variant. The most flagrant
differencies are the two engine panels (upper and lower parts) But the procedures are still as same.
Now why so much diference in size? Simply the V1.5 textures are some more two or thre variants more. Than in
what we believe to be the first version the author had just put in the texture folders the textures which are different
for every version. than there is a folder with general textures which include also the textures for the VC. These textures
have to be copied into each other textures folder. This will explain why "V1" is smaller in size.
Now concerning the manuals. The one I still have posted was translated with "Deepl" and seem to be very correct.
Sadly "Deepl" allowed me only one transation for free per month. Other wise I should pay, grrrrrr.
I translated the other manuals with the google translator and as one can expect they are not always correct and also
somewhere a bit curious.. Also in the manuals there are no real explanations or organigram what switch has which function.
I tried to find out the function of the switches via the gauges editor of my fsps. But that did not bring me a lot further
forward. In fact it would be nice if we can find some one who has the knowledge and technical understanding of russian
programmation. I hoped that at the german FS2004 sit that the would be some former GDR-pilots which could help. But no
answer (I believe again the problem with german history)
Some users simply use an DC-3 cockpit. It might work. But please consider that the author merrits more consideration for his work.
Also the Li-2 is not a simply copy of the original DC-3. Even the russians had the license and some original DC-3's, it took them
about two years to put the Li-2 into serial production. They had to convert from anglo-american mesures to metric values. Also
the electric and hydraulic systems where put onto russian standards. And at last the russian engines where quiet different even the
had been largeley influenced by US design. Also the airplane was designed for the easiest maintenance under the worsest conditions.
So at last with some good translation it is possible to fly the plane with the original cockpits. The only detail what I do not agree with is the Nav1/VOR1 equipment, which it "lend" from the IL-14.
Hope that I did not bore you with my long monologue.
Best regards
Michael
