interesting bird Lisunov Li-2

Good morning friends,

for those who uses the original panel ore even mine, did some one find out about the different functions of the different tank switches?

Best regards

Michael

So far I had no luck Michael. I have managed to start get the elkectrical system working and was able te get one engine moving with the original panel, but it simply stops. So I guess there is no fuel because the fuel switched are not in the correct position.

(Simple problem solving I learned form the motor cycles I worked on in the past. When the engine doesn work at ayll, there is either no fuel of no spark.)

Cheers,
Huub

Good Morning Huub,

if you follow the german manual the engines will start well and will run well.
If you uses my sounds. They are for the first time a bit disconcentrating. You here engine to have some first combustions, than a blank and the engine regins to work more and nore turning round. As I observed a lot or radial engines, the sound at the start sequence seems right.
As it is eastern > big familly day grrrrr I would prefer to work on the pc. So I will see if on tuesday, wednessday I can make a short engines manual in english. The biggest problem are the cylinder heat procedures to resespect.
I will see what I can do - It works that is shure! I had done some flights as from Munich riem to Budapest, Also I transformed a little bit the aircraft cfg in the way that you have passengers and luggage on board.
Hope that I can lep you to use the original or mine panel

Best regards

Michael

Hallo friends,
even the eastern familly day I tried this morning to make a little manual to start the engines
to keep the cylinder head temperatures in her limits the settings sould be as follows
start mixture full rich, 1050 mp, 2200rpm
climb to 1500meters mixture down to 65%, 900mp, 2100rpm
climb to 1500 - 2500 mixture down to 20%
over 3000meters 18%

I hope the little manual might help you for the first flights

Best regards

Michael

here are the original russion manuals translated to english
The translation might not be 100% accurate. I used a free but not technical translator.
But with a bit good will it is possible to fly this bird with russian cockpits. The author do merrit it

Hallo friends,
just uploaded to our prefered site (means here) the complete original manuals for the Li-2 translated in english
The translations might not be 100% accurate. I used a free translator all the technical translators I found demanded to pay for
But I believe that with a bit of good will itis possible to fly the bird with original russian cockpits
I hope that it helps you end encourage those who fly this bird with a Dak panel. The author merrits more than to be depreciated

Best Regards

Michael

Thanks Michael.. Much appreciated.
I've actually also just this minute, done an English translation of the Li2 manual.. You got there before me.!

The next I will try to translate are checklists
sad thing that for the switches we cant use an translator as most inscrptions and also in the program files of the gauges it uses abreviations that only a specilist could translate one by one

Best regards

Michael

Michael, Window's 'Snipping Tool' can extract text from a picture and then that can be pasted into a translation program.
Works well.

Thanks to Michael V, Huub Vink and Zswobbie1 (as well as the original authors). My Sunflower (sounds like the endearment to a loved one ) is now touring Cuba, here at Kawama airfield:
Sunflower 1.jpg

I am still finding the Russian panel difficult, the translations have been of some help but for now I am using a western panel. Sometimes life is just too short, but I shall keep trying the russian panel when I get the time.

Good evening "Goldtimers"

started at the Aviodrome and after 1,9h air controled flight landed save at Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel - a lot of traffic there.
At the approach I feared a bit about my cylinder head temperatures. But all got well with a nice "kiss landing". What was a
bit impressing that in the first half of the aproach there where a lot of turbulences. Realy a nice bird to fly

Best regards

Michael

Ps Thank you Huub

I will give it another try MIchael. Meanwhile I had a bright moment and used GoogleLens and its translate option to look at the fuel switches.

The one on the left is the tank selector, which matches your description in the manual. And the one on the right side is the supply selector, so to select which engine you want to feed.

Cheers,
Huub

I appreciate Michaels and Huubs efforts, but even if I stand on my head and turn around 3 times, the right engine won´t start.

hertzie

Good to know I'm not the only one Erik! I have the same problem. It is not what Michael like to hear, but I currently have two version installed. One with the default DC3 panel, which I can use to fly  and one with the original panel which I use to puzzle....... :D

Cheers,
Huub

Hallo. friends
I asmit that I had also some problems wuth the right engine
1. when you have pumped fuel with the big read lever 4 to six times do not leave a lot of time to start the engines
2 verify that all levers on the over head oanels are as indicated
3 do not forget to turn the ring at the jandpump at the right cockpit eall to the right engine
4 when the first engine is running well throttle back to idle
5 pump againfuel with the big red lever
6 pumpmp againe after ti be sure that the uump is turned onzo the right engine position 10-12 times tu have ful fuel preesure to the carburators
7 engergize the right engine starter untik you hear a consttant long "wine" noise
8 switch the starter into start position
9 while doing so advance slole your throttles forward until you hear the engine starting. of course it is easier to hear if yiu use astereo sound system with two loudspeakers.
10 if all fuel switches are in the right position as I showed in the first start manual the engine should start
At last I wonder if I should not download Chris Jensens IL-14 first and make a mix of both panels
but depending how much my family leave me space it cone take one or two weeks with an outcome not to be shure.

what is astonishing me is that I am just an average flightsimmer with some little tech and real aviation background I can fly this bird
As yesterday frome the avio drome to Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel in an air controlled flight.

Best regards

Michael
