Just Flight DC-10?

I'm starting to feel glad I dropped the coins on it. :geek:

One of things I've done so far is to start out with the Icon panel already on.
This is pretty easy. Open the panel.cfg file and look down to find [window17]:

[Window17]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=152,38
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=1
ident=10017
window_size= 0.13, 0.045
window_pos= 0.410, 0.590

Change the "visible=" line from a 0 to a 1. You can still toggle the Icon panel off in the 2D panel if you're a purist. Me? I'm thinking ahead to sometime next year when I load the beast up. :dizzy:

I remind you to declare that you are talking about FSX… when you are contributing in FS2004 Theme’s because we’re in an FS2004 Thread here not in an FSX Thread… otherwhise you just confuse people…
Well I would NOT have mentioned FSX right here if the original poster AndyG43 had not mentioned to me right here that he also has FSX too hence me offering him my helpful suggestion that he should get freeware Thomas Ruth KC-10 for his FSX. He is asking for help to find KC-10 whether it is payware or freeware.

Aharon

Just for the sake of clarity, Sbob was the person asking for help to find the KC-10, I was simply offering suggestions.

I was surprised when Thomas Ruth was mentioned as I thought he was a FSX guy which, of course, he is. His aircraft fill my hangars in that sim, including his KC-10.

Sbob, you seem to be having a lot of fun. 😆

Also i've noticed that on rotation, the Landing Gear sinks into the ground... need to fiddle around with the contact points there... as i'm not yet happy with that... :) will post my config here once that's done properly.

Almost. :geek:
I kind of tracked down the blue and white Extender in the last screen shot as belonging to the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale in the 1980's.
Going by their shoulder patch, I'm giving it the callsign of "Link 433". One problem, according to Joe Baugher there was no 79-0433. It should be 79-0434.
I also managed to graft a fine sound folder to that Abacus Kiowa, all in the same day. Now, its time for some sleep and then back to carrier landings tonight. :wiggle:

Have a good Rest, Take care and happy landings... allways three greens and catch the ball and those ropes... Carrier Landings are still something difficult for me... i mostly overrun and ditch... 🤣🤣🤣

BTW, this IS the FS2002/FS2004 forum (aka FS8 and FS9).
Screen shots and links for FSX are great but they get downright confusing in this forum. :wavey:

If the FSX forum is is acting like a waiting room, try to stir something up in it.

Sbob, have you downloaded and integrated this mod to your DC-10?

Would be interesting to see some screenshots about that one… and to know if and how good it actually works before i install it myself…

And there’s also an EFIS Update:

and just in case you don’t have it yet…

The Royal Netherlands Air Force KC-10.

Basil, I haven't even tried to set the Auto Pilot yet. :giggle: I'm concentrating on the tanker birds, although there are some nice airliners and cargo birds. On military aircraft, you got a guy named "Hey, Nav??" who does the FMC stuff, plus this thing is already pretty complicated with no book.

And, yeah, I saw some of those RNAF repaints and I'm adding at least one. You might want to upgrade EHEH, that was where they were based.

BTW, the "prop anim ratio" trick works pretty good on this plane.

texture=SAC
prop_anim_ratio=2.43174
kb_checklists=DC-10_check

You just need to add that line to every aircraft in the cfg file. It does nothing for screen shots but those spinners and fans will look better in the game.
Speaking of the gear and the contact points, the nose wheel steering angle could use a buff. That's my only real gripe (besides the Owner's Manual).

So, um, has anyone ever figured out how to turn on the Formation/Slime lights on the US KC-10? :unsure:
Do they even work? I looked at all of the textures and found nothing, like the flight crew in their white shirts.
I do remember seeing a "formation lights" switch, somewhere on one of the panels but it didn't seem to do anything.
If push comes to shove, I can add them to the "L" textures but they won't be controllable.

This is a fun plane to fiddle with. :p Its a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, but without an owner's manual.

Luckily, all the gauges are XML :dizzy: and I tracked down the form lights switch. It looks like its only a dummy. :confused:

to be honest with you, i haven't touched it yet that much... since i am not really a developer or fiddler, i am enjoying it as is... maybe just rework some minor things... but i haven't yet got the time to touch it...

Take things a step at a time and don't rush it.
Its a good plane for FS9, you just have to get used to a higher degree of reality.

- The auto pilot is touchy. Its not like a standard FS AP. Get close to your altitude manually then engage the Alt Hold.
- Speed hold. Either it don't work or I haven't figured it out yet.
- The Formation Lights switch runs the white lights on the aft wing tips. Still no idea what controls the slime lights on the US tanker, if they work.

Auto brakes/RTO work from the VC. Finding the knob on the 2D panel can get frustrating.

Anyway, I just spent an hour doing some circuit work at KMIA in a cargo version repaint. It gets touchy in pitch over 150 kts and I REALLY need to work on speed vs weight stuff. This should be a fun project for this winter.
For the most part, the aircraft.cfg files really need a clean-up. There's a ton of FSX stuff in them that needs to go.

Indeed, i got more time for the Sim in Wintertime… so will take my time for the DC-10 then for sure… as it seems quite a bit of work to do…
Also i may integrate some systems from the Aerosim L-1011 / or vice versa… just for fun… and to get some things to work and look more cleaned up… specially concerning the VC…

I may also get some help on this from the Panel Professional, Edward Cox… he’s a Master at creating awesome Panels..
