Lockheed Electra Model 10

Electra Cockpit Panel

Hello Smilo,
You will be pleased to hear that the production of the
Electra Model 10A is approaching the finish line.

At the moment I´m working on the panel: I´d found a 3/4
cockpit vintage panel for twins made by Renaud Dudon and
Tom Gibson in 2000, and converted it into a full cockpit panel.

The original Electra panel has several instruments on a kind
of shelf between the dashboard and the yokes, and in the centre,
with the controls, impossible for a 2D panel, so I opted for a
practical simplification. The result in the attached screenshot.

The gauges are mostly default and FSFSConv (Flight Shop Converter)
gauges, except for the Manifold pressure/fuel flow gauges (whose
Fuel Flow part won´t work in CFS1) and the custom Throttle quatrant
and RPM and Boost gauges.

What would you think? Anyway, I´m open to other suggestions.

Hello Ivan,
Regarding the RPM and Boost gauges I´m planning to use on this panel:
They are originally the multi-engined gauges you programmed using the
Bf109e engine gauge bitmaps.

The frames of the German WWII gauges are quite different to the ones
on the Electra, so I´m using the default FSFSConv gauge set, which is
rather more similar.

I altered the RPM and Boost Gauge bitmaps, and put on round FSFSConv
frames, English lettering, and the Boost dial is in Inches of Mercury
instead of ATA. I hope this will be fine by you, but do let me know
if there is something you don´t agree with.

Cheers,
Aleatorylamp

Hello Aleatorylamp,

No problem regarding the Gauges from Messerschmitt.
I had been wondering how you were building such nice looking panel backgrounds so quickly.
I seem to have more problems with bitmaps and general textures that with anything else in these projects.

- Ivan.

Hello Ivan,
OK for the gauges then, thanks!

Textures and general Artwork is also difficult for me. My scratch-built panels would not have finesses like shadings, and what I usually do is cut and paste pieces from existing panels. In the case of this one, I adapted a 3/4 cockpit, originally for a DC-3.

I completed it on the right by mirroring and pasting the left 1/4, and narrowed the panel to fit the window, correcting the vertical dimensions and the size of other dteails. Then, I´ll mention the author of the original panel, and I hope my adaptation won´t cause him any trouble.

I wonder what Smilo thinks about the present panel and instruments.
Cheers,
Aleatorylamp

Hello Folks,
I´ve just uploaded the Lockheed Electra Model 10.
It will be available as soon as it is authorized:

Thanks again to Ivan for his help with the parts-ordering and glue-sequencing,
and all his other suggestions!

I hope you will all enjoy it.
Cheers,

Hello Aleatorylamp,

Saw it last night after I got back from our trip but did not have a chance to load it yet.
Your handling of the German Gauges is really interesting.
I had not thought that having a basic functional gauge would allow easy adaptability to other styles.

My Daughter is home from College now and we also happen to have a refrigerator failure again, so today looks to be busy.

- Ivan.

Hello Ivan,
It was actually quite straight forward to change the dials and frames on the
German CFS Boost and RPM gauges you had programmed, so that they would
match the default FSFSConv gause set.
On another forum I found an old post of yours with a table of boost pressures
in ATA, inches of Hg, lbs/sq.in, and mm of HG, and this saved a lot of work!
Then it was a matter of just placing numbers conveniently along the scale to
change ATA into inches of mercury.
Good luck with the fridge!
Cheers,
Aleatorylamp
