Lockheed L-1649A Starliner, Version 2.0

PLEASE NO!!!!
Until 3D modeling in MSFS is good enough to model 'detailed humans', I for one prefer to have an empty flight deck, rather than some 'block headed monster' sitting alongside who does nothing to contribute to the flying :icon_lol::icon_lol:

"'block headed monster"?? :d

I don't call this a blocky monster:

and this is far from being a FPS hog either...

IMO, one should not 'populate' a VC.

I move around my VC and find when one of those figures
has been placed in the right seat it messes over my views
from that seat. I have to move the eyepoint, or in the
case of FSX the camera, forward to 'get out of the head'.

It is possible to make a "switchable" crew, ON/OFF toggle exactely like in the Mitsubishi F-2 for example...

FSX conversion is not needed immediately, since this bird works perfect in FSX already. ;)

IMO, a 'works perfect in FSX' aircraft would be one that can
be flown solely from the VC with 2D's only used for convenience.

I took the L-1649 for a short ride in FSX yesterday and the
first thing I encountered was having to resort to CTL+E to
start the engines. Manual starters are not always compatible
between FS9 & FSX coding.

Next, I had to go to the 2D to turn on the various lights ( Nav, Landing )
and to set the OBS.

This is a great looking model and if I were still flying FS9 I'm
sure I would appreciate having it in my hangar but for FSX
I would require a working FE station in the VC as well as all the
pilot/co-pilot/overhead switches to be operational.

I must admit, I've become a bit biased after having logged
in excess of 100 hours in the A2A B-377. And using TrackIR
makes a fully functioning VC a real joy to inhabit :)

I also have a beta L-049A with a fully operational VC that
I aquired some time ago from the original author.

That's really a wonderful aircraft!!! Thanks a lot :jump:

I have just finished my Lufthansa livery for the Starliner:

Do remember Paul that this is freeware when comparing against the B377 payware, and for a freeware aircraft, it is done very well. I am looking forward to the FSX release as well.

It seems to me that those are gauges problems, not model problems. An FSX model with the same gauges would suffer from the same problems.

Be sure to read the instructions on the required setup of the FE panel for engine start...There is quite a bit more to do than just select the engine and press the starter button.
1. Fuel Pumps on and verify that fuel pressure is registering on the engine gauges.
2. Trottle to approx 9%
3. Set ignition timing to retarded on the props sub-panel
4. Engine selector to 3
5. Prime the engine with 3 or 4 shots of Primer
6. Engage starter
7. Repeat 4-6 for engines 4,2 and finally 1

I think that's all of them....but I am working from memory here :icon_lol:

I have not tried the switches in FSX so I don't know what works and what doesn't. The airplane was however designed as I understand it for now mainly for FS9....but at some point a FSX native version is on the horizon.

Edit: Almost forgot what I really wanted to add. The lovely curvaceous lady in the Golden Eagle is certainly nice to look at...but unless she can be switched on/off as needed I gladly pass on her or anything less appealing.
And while we're at it....I would prefer if all VC yokes would be made selectable. In most FS airplanes they are only blocking gauges that they never would in the real airplanes. Thankfully the yoke in the Starliner is very un-intrusive.

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

If I fly above 18,000 feet with the altitude hold engaged, the aircraft's pitch starts oscillating quite a bit. If I turn off the altitude hold, the oscillations stop.

Any suggestions on how to reduce or eliminate the oscillations?
