Hi Guys,
After seeing UT's post about his awesome rework of Rabaul to Rhumba's mesh I am inspired to post a progress report on the Solomons rework.
Its going slowly but steadily. I started with Renell and Bellona, then up to San Cristobal, Malaita, Floridas and Russells. Currently Guadalcanal is the center of attention. I wanted to get that North Coast just right including as accurate a rendition of the rivers that flowed in and around Lunga and Koli points as possible. I am just about finished with this part of the job. A few more small tweaks should do it. Next will be redoing the landclass values in and around the airfield locations. Then- the airfields themselves. I am probably going to remove a runway from Henderson and add a new runway at the location of what was called Fighter III. Sliding the old airfields over a little won't do the trick. They will need to be rebuilt from scratch. These new ones will be a tad less elaborate and dense than the current versions. Should be a definite improvement.
I will be doing a nice rendition of the unfinished Japanese field, too.
Here are a couple of screenies of current state of affairs on the North central coast of Guadalcanal. The runway locations are roughed in.
Cheers,
MR
