    Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

    You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

    If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

    To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Microprose B-17 Flying Fortress Released

Reply
but come on, on version 1.0?
There is no way this should really be considered v1.0. Microprose had to push it to v1.0 in order to release it to the Marketplace - personally I disagree with that decision since most reasonable people will interpret v1.0 as a finished product, albeit one that may get some updates and bug fixes. But anyway, that happened, and the consequences are lots of people will buy it and see a partly finished aircraft; whether they know the back-story and the dev team's stated intent to get this up to standard is another question.

Don’t expect massive changes. It’s a welcome hotfix for the flight model, but I think that’s about it.
I couldn't fly a B-17 on a prayer. I am more interested from a historical standpoint. I will generally start in the air and shoot screenshots. I build scale models and both World War I and World War II aviation are my milieu. I build jets, but I don't particularly care for them. I'm still a little 12 year old kid going on 80, I like to blow the props. :) The model is the Heller 1/72 Polikarpov I-153 kit in the markings of Major Sergei I. Gritsevets who scored twelve victories against Japanese Ki-27s in what is known as the "Nomonhan Incident" in the Summer of 1939.

Hi Cazzie!
Little Info about your Heller 1/72 Polikarpov I-153 kit.Its in original from the Czech Plastic Kit Company Smer and was reboxed in 1997 by Heller.

I Have the original from Smer from a Holiday in Czechoslovakia in 1988. Anyway,great Kit and great Aircraft.

Oh yes, very familiar with SMER models, have built and own several unbuilt kits. This is my 1/72 scale SMER Lavockin LA-7, which I believe is an old KOPRO kit remastered by SMER.

Hi Cazzie!

Yes its a reboxed Kopro Kit.I know it under the original KP batch (Kovozavodie Prostejov-Metalfabric in Prostejov!?).

Maybe the Moulds are metalmade-However i had many KP Models mostly Russian and Czech Stuff with good Quality.

KP has produced in 1/72 the LA-5Fn in 1987.It was a very nice Model too.

But Smers Quality was in my eyes much better as KP.

Many Models are reboxed later by Revell,Heller and Monogram.

But it was mostly the same unchanged content but for a higher Price.

3 day rental. Wanted to see what the fuss was all about. MP is about 90% there IMO. Disappearing pilot and ball turret should be easy fixes. Prop disks are from FS9 are they not? Takes pretty screenshots!

Out of curiosity, I was looking at how they had handled the overloading aspect of the engines and I was a bit surprised.
I’m starting to wonder if the Microprose people read the SDK once...

For as much as the SDK (2020) is very clear on this point if we use the supercharger or new_supercharger parameter, the turbocharger parameter must be set to 0 otherwise I think that the supercharger function is ineffective.

That said, the turbocharger parameter does not appear in the 2024 SDK ... Asobo must have forgotten it :banghead:

Engines.cfg in the last version 1.0.3.a:
emergency_boost_mp_offset = 52
emergency_boost_mp_damage = 50
emergency_boost_gain_offset = 0.1
emergency_boost_can_be_stopped = 1
emergency_boost_throttle_threshold = 0.99
wep_damage_efficiency_factor = 0.7
turbocharged = 1
critical_altitude = 26700
new_supercharged = 2 ; high gear must be locked out?
supercharger_altitude_gear.1 = 0
supercharger_altitude_gear.2 = 10000
supercharger_boost_high_end_gear.1 = 1.89 ; critical height for 48" = 4500'
supercharger_boost_high_end_gear.2 = 2.26 ; critial height for 43" = 12000'
supercharger_boost_low_end_gear.1 = 0.2
supercharger_boost_low_end_gear.2 = 0.3
supercharger_power_cost = 0.1
