Mike Stone's B-25 - Released!

Nope...can't say that I can recognize the modeling style...but I hope he/she is a freeware developer.

Hope it's Roy Chaffin :)

It's Mike's! The pic I posted is with his basic paint. The model was a special request from Garry Smith, and he's also doing some high-detail paints for the model. It shouldn't be too much longer until it's out.

That looks great! I do look forward to another of Mike's creations, and thank you Gary for the embellishments. :applause: :jump:

Just a H/U.... it's now on Mikes site :salute:

And on my system!!

She's very nice, very decent looking 2D cockpit (no VC, but that is never a deal breaker for me) and nice textures, courtesy of Garry; I've aliased the sounds to "Briefing Time", but 'out of the box' she looks to the DC-3 for her sounds. A very quick test flight gives performance pretty darn close to BT, so happy with that too. Thanks Mike, another gem, and welcome back!! :salute:

Of course one of the beauties of Mike's aircraft is that they are easy on the FPS; I've just been reading an article on the making of "Catch 22" - I wonder ....... :icon_lol:

A new pklane from Mr. Stone is ALWAYS a treat and any B-25 floats my personal boat. When I get to my FS machine it's a definite D/L. Muchas gracias for the heads up. LA

and i run! :icon_lol: wonder what fictional paints i can come up with for this beauty :salute:

Well, there were 17 flying B-25s in the film (and one they burnt out for the crash sequence), so there is a fair selectional of fictional schemes right there! :icon_lol: The legacy of that film is incredible; 15 of those B-25s are still in existence, we owe Frank Tallman a debt of gratitude.

And plenty of scope for non-fictional schemes, as the Mitchell served with 20 air arms (including a single example in Spain) - have a look here for some ideas Matt.

US b-25's with invasion strips

Mikes B-25 looks great but as far as I know ,there were no US B-25's in the D-Day invasion and none in Northren Europe. All the B-25's that wore invasion strips were flown by British or Allied countries that were in the D-Day invasion.
Maybe there were US B-25's that wore invasion strips in the invasion of southren France, I know there were US B-25's based in Italy.
Sorry for nitpicking.

Very nice plane ..
Just a spoiler .. the props "flash" at certain distance in external view ..
Had try any bitmap conversion .. use of other blades and prop disks .. but not able to correct it .... :(
Maybe it's printed in the model

Tried to match the lights with the MAAM version, but left off the blue exhaust flashes as they are driven by a xml gauge and would be part of the payware package.

I guess invasion stripes are like SEA camo, any plane looks good wearing them.

I didn't know there were no USAAF B-25s in the UK during the summer and fall of 1944. I guess the B-26s took care of the US medium bombing duties.

( To be fair to Mike, he's not the only one to depict a US B-25 in invasion stripes. I have a couple MAAM Sim repaints and a Roy Chaffin B-25 in stripes. I guess when something looks good why fight it?)
