I'm 99% sure that i know the fix to your problem with night lighting. I'm also 100% sure that as a MV team member i cant offer you support outside of the MV support forum. Rest assured I too had a "problem" with it and you'll be searching for a long time unless someone points the "fix" out to you.

Hi Rick, where exactly on the milviz forum is this issue covered? I went and looked and found a thread on "instrument lights" for the F100D, but nothing in there mentioned this issue specifically. I do know my McAfee Anti-virus has quarantined the milviz_lighting_service.exe. I have yet to figure out how to designate it as trusted. So it just stays there.

Hi,

We have approached ESET, Mcaffee, Kapersky, Microsoft and Norton. With the exception of ESET who agreed to put our stuff on their false positive list, we have gotten no response. This has happened several times over the past two years.

Whilst we are sorry about this, there's not much that we can do. Not if we want to expand our tech base.

As well, given that there are literally hundreds of combinations of Anti-Virus and Malware products, it would be impossible for us to cover our bases on all of them. So yes, it is up to the customers to deal with that end of things. We do warn all of you about this on all sites that sell our products, in all manuals and in the forums, support or otherwise.

Thank you for your understanding.

Well, here is what WORKS. At least for me.

I deleted McAfee. I then reinstalled the F-100. Then I purchased and installed AVAST Premier, which is a great AV program I use on my laptop. Comes in a freeware version as well. I then immediately went into AVAST and excluded the nightlighting directory from any scan activity. Works great now.

Glad to hear you got this sorted. I've been hit by this myself and I work on this stuff every day. :banghead: +1 for Avast!
