MSFS Releases Local Legend 17: THE Curtiss C-46 Commando

EXCELLENT!!!
Was really looking forward to a C-46... (y)
Never bought a "local legend" but things might change...

On a quick flight seems pretty good, not tried the systems, old school radio and AP, haven't seen an option for GPS or modern AP. Just 4 liveries.

Awesome! Its an Aeroplane Heaven aircraft so the haters are going to be trashing it soon, but I am super exited and know what I will be doing this evening. I had there P3D version and very much enjoyed it.

Saw "China Doll" at a Warbird meet at Brown Field in San Diego, Ca. back in the '90's. Got to go through the interior, was impressed with the size inside. There was also a C-47 there, can't remember it's name, but it seemed smaller. Always liked the C-46 more. Have to pick this one up.

I was about to purchase this one, and then MSFS started the connection stuff on me... again!

I will get this one and as for the haters: HAWK TUAH! (just not on that "thang")

Priller
Same here. So it's not just local.

If there's an option for modern GPS and autopilot, I may just pick this one up.
I'm with you here. I'd probably really enjoy flying this around for a while, but I've found that I don't really fly the planes without GPS or AP very often. I do a lot of long flights, and I often get some real-world work done en route. GPS and modern AP are much more supportive of that. Maybe they'll publish an update with a more modern, civilian version (I doubt it, but . . . ).

I think the majority of simmers do exactly the same, I certainly do. You'd think Navigraph's annual survey would show that to all the aircraft developers who participate in it, and that they would know that a plane with AP is going to be much more popular than one without. I've only bought two planes with no AP, and I've edited them both to be compatible with the PMS50 GTN750 Deluxe which has a universal AP available in the menu bar pop-up window.

I was holding off buying much of anything new with MSFS2024 around the corner, but I won't pass this one up. I really liked the older version. My type of aircraft.

As to the AP thing, one of my long-time gripes, if not my main one with any MSFS aircraft is not having an AP. I don't mean needing to have a true AP unit, but at the very least it should at least be able to use the default Alt & Hdg Hold keyboard commands. I have a color-coded spreadsheet of all my payware aircraft to help me choose one for a day's flying. Green=AP unit. Yellow=Alt & Hdg hold capable. Red = Won't follow sh*t. I fly them all, but guess which ones I'm likely to spend the most time in.

Just a suggestion for those with concern re lack of AP. My first flight in the "China Doll" C-46 was from Camarillo, CA into PMTC Point Mugu positioning the aircraft for their air show the next day I think the flight time was about 8 minutes !!

Oh, how do you do that?

So, I thought we were getting a new Carenado something. Anybody know what's up with that?

It was only speculation/wishful thinking, as far as I know(?). I personally think Carenado has its head down working on MSFS2024, just as they were involved in the development of a number of the aircraft included in MSFS2020. They haven't posted anything on Facebook since last November, which is very unusual for them.
