OUT NOW - BE THE FIRST. P-51 MUSTANGS - OUT NOW
One year after initial conception, the highly anticipated first release of Warbirdsim's North American Mustang Series is ready to take to the skies - primed and waiting for everyone to experience & fly...
There are FOUR packages. Each available as download or box. Fighter Pairs downloads or boxes include two aircraft in two paint schemes. Choose from the P-51B, P-51C or Mustang III variants. Each of the Fighter Pairs Boxes also includes a printed, panel guide.

Fighter Leader, on the other hand is a very special package indeed.
This version will include the P-51B, the P-51C and the Mustang III with all colours and schemes with additional aircraft; a factory fresh example (as it would have looked rolling off the line at Inglewood) and probably the most famous P-51B of 'Bud' Anderson's 'Old Crow', with whitewall tyres and latter day Malcolm Hood! The level of painstaking research and development is clearly evident across this release designed specifically to appeal to both avid enthusiasts and collectors with different printed items in the boxed editions as a bonus.

They sure look very nice, but the prices are definitely a bit too steep for me. The cheapest package with one single model and just one repaint is already 21.99 British Pounds (35 USD!). Especially when you consider that there are no third party repiants allowed!

As said they are the perfect eye-candy and for several Mustang maniacs most probably worth the money, but I'm afraid I won't become an owner this time.

I just did some rough currency conversion.
For the 'download' RAF Mustang Mk.III I'd be paying the best part of A$60 and receiving 2 (Two) aircraft ...................:kilroy:
Very nice but I'll pass.

For us that are challenged when it comes to converting British pounds into US dollars,....could you state the costs on your web sight in US dollars too? That would help.

First Package 41GBP = $64 USD

Other Packages 22GBP = $34 USD

The Fighter Leader pack is much the best value for money and it does contain a 'factory fresh' texture set, but it is very expensive (£42). I'd like to see what the EULA says about 3rd party repaints and whether it could be challenged as being unreasonable because the only reason for including the FF one must be to allow repaints. 'For personal use only' could be construed as 'not for personal gain'; I'm no lawyer but I would have thought that if no financial gain is involved, and due acknowledgement of sources is given, what would be the incentive for any company to sue a paying customer?

Just a thought...

I'll still buy it when I can afford it because it's brilliant, and I'll repaint it!

Anybody taken the plunge yet?
The price seems..interesting..
For now, it is FS9 only? Albert/John, what about an FSX version?
Is it going to come? and how? a separate buy, or a free upgrade?
And is it indeed true that you will not allow repaints, and will not make a paintkit available, even for personal use?
Before I decide if and what I buy, could you tell me this?

Too steep for me.... money's tight and times are hard. I'll stick with the A2A birds I already have. At least they allow repaints to be done for theirs.

Fantastic job Bomber. These are without a doubt the top of the top drawer, but I will be waiting for FSX version, as I quit buying for FS9 now. I can't afford both. Keep it coming you do awesome work. Ya know, I think I would even settle for a port over John. I doubt it would take much work maybe just glass...let me know if that is in the works.

Pounds.......for a North American P-51......hmmmmm. Like Ted I'm waiting for the FSX version........mayber?

downloading as I type, kind of pricey but not so far out of line with Alpha, etc. I'm just a fan of these early Mustangs so full speed ahead! Will post some screens in a bit.

Let us know how the sound are also please. These things are always released when I'm at work :banghead::d

It feels great to finally have this aircraft released. Some may state that it is just another Mustang, and why on earth did I do another Mustang. I grew up along side a P-51C restoration, so I was engrained with the image of the sleek P-51B/C's all of my life, as you can imagine. This really peaked my interest in the P-51B/C fighters, more so than any other Mustang, and more so than any other aircraft. For the first aircraft I chose to model and texture all myself, I couldn't have picked an aircraft I had more of a passion to construct. It was my goal from the outset to make the most accurate depiction of the P-51B/C that I could see fit, and fill it with more features than any other available. Beyond that, through the cooperation with Albert and the rest of the staff at Warbirdsim, this aircraft is a licensed Boeing product, allowing us to use the North American name and reference material to make sure it is up to par. The flight dynamics were tested, and tested, and tested, and tested some more. It not only gained the approval of an English based P-51 owner and pilot, it gained my approval. And the sounds, which were recorded inside and out over the summer, round off the experience. I couldn't be happier with the way everything was pulled together in the final release, which, as those who complain about the word soon may not know, when dealing with a product such as this, last minute changes and last minute decisions take longer than making the model itself. :)

The FSX examples will be right around the corner. I wish I could have had them finished a bit earlier, but working in FSX is a bit of a different experience, and it has taken a bit more time than I thought it would originally. Still, the checklist is quickly narrowing. ;)

Hi John,
I can well imagine that it feels great to have it finally released, it certainly looks great, but then so do most things from your hands/computer. It does look like a labor of love, I have to say that.

It's good to hear there is a FSX on the way, but apart from that, you don't answer my questions. If I buy this, do I have to buy a seperate FSX version later? I'd rather not buy just a FS9 bird, especially at this price, beautiful as it may be...
Then there are the remarks form Albert, about not allowing repaints. Is this true? That too would have a large influence on my choices about what to buy..
Can you comment on this?

John, thanks for the time and effort in making them as realistic as you have. For those of us that will never be able to afford our own "real" Mustang, having one constructed as detailed as this one will at least bridge the gap!

$64, and $34, and no repaints allowed? You gotta be kidding me. I am perfectly happy with my WWII Fighters Mustang, and the hanger full of repaints for it that I have.

Looks great, wish you well, but thanks but no thanks.

I've still have a question/concern before parting with any cash :kilroy:

Firstly my main concern is, are this group any different than, or in any shape or form linked to Araine or Tishma??? For me the simileralites are that bit to coincidently, before i was holding my tounge, after all i've seen websites that i wouldnt mind useing the template for, but after bomber said

this aircraft is a licensed Boeing product,

It got me wondering, one of the first things you see if you go to the araine designs website is that it has a nice little sticker saying that its officialy licensed by boeing!.

It just seems to circumstancshull (yea i know i cant spell!), same website layout, both "licensed" by boeing, both charge in £s, both charge for aditional repaints, both hosted by the same web company (but that could go hand in hand with the template usage), same type of prices and the fact both seem to have a tendancy not to reply to questions ....

Dont get me wrong I'd love to be proved wrong, but seeing as how there hasnt been any respons to any of the questions raised, then well ... i'm not going to part with any money :kilroy:
