Mustangs are go!

Well John.....

I did it and will post a shot later.

As to the frame rates.....if not equal to or better than the WoP P-51D on my rig and mine is not any top of the line rig.

Well done.....my only issue......it seems to be VERY touchy at the controls. Is there anyway to modify that to my liking?

Stangs where know for being very touchy! I think I might take the dive.........I just don't know? Someone push me over the edge please!:costumes:

Mud.....I think you'll be glad you did. ITs very nice, good on the frames and has some really awesome paints to boot.

I am hopeful that there will be a way to get a paint kit going for it.

Hey John, I am very glad to hear that you are enjoying it. Can you explain in more detail as to the twitchy feeling? The ailerons should actually feel rather stiff, but the elevator is rather sensitive. I have read a few accounts where new Mustang owners actually blacked out, and came to, shortly later, after pulling too hard on the stick going into a loop. Also, with the center fuselage tank full, it will be even more prone to being rather touchy in pitch.

One thing I should add, which I didn't in the pilot's notes I wrote up, is that if you aren't using any fuel in the fuselage tank, the original manual recommends putting in 3 degrees of nose up trim. I have noticed that it does help the aircraft fly off easier when the fuselage tank is empty. When full, the aircraft takes off rather briskly.

JKCook, thank you for posting those beautiful screenshots!

Okay, Mud. Time for a push.

I took the plunge and got the Flight Leader pack which has the extra 'Factory Delivered' texture, I believe.

Yes, its a bit touchy. My takeoff was horrible. Good thing the ground crew runs fast. :d

Sounds and graphics are great (like, duh). I specially like the VC. Lots of switches and features that work. No 2D, but I don't use it much anyway. There are eight textures, five models and five panels, BTW.

Great job, Warbirdsim. :medals:

Gotta read the manual, now.

The good news as the last few weeks for the Dollar bound purchasing in any East Of Grenwitch Major Currency , is that the Euro and Pound are down a lot.....

I'd go with Warhorse47 and his good words.

It is the pitch I am referring to and I'll toy with fuel loads. It is when I pull stick back that I get a nose up hard sometimes but I think I've found the touch for the controls...after a couple stalls that is. My only critique would be, wheels chocks, belts on the seat when parked with no pilot. Thats it!

Anyway here's a quick shot....

I don't think that there will be absolutely no choice for repainters, [snip]There are other methods that may go into play allowing for some aspect of repaints to be made and distributed by users of the product.

Good to hear! Once I get a new job :censored: I'll have to pick this one up!

Alright guys, I did it!! And it's all SkyHawks fault!!hehe I'll let you know what I think.............:d

PS Why can't we print out the manual? Don't like that!

John, thanks for the comprehensive explanation and don't even think about cutting your income from this project, you've freely given far more to the FS community than most people.
:applause:
Our currency (A$) has fallen to it's lowest level for 10 years, give or take a couple, but those RAF versions look very tempting.
If (and I mean 'if') a repaint for the RAAF No3 Squadron Mustang turned up I'd just have to get one .................:d

The FSX examples will be right around the corner. I wish I could have had them finished a bit earlier, but working in FSX is a bit of a different experience, and it has taken a bit more time than I thought it would originally. Still, the checklist is quickly narrowing. ;)

Good to hear that it will be coming...
Here's an idea for you: FSX allows different viewpoints, so I was thinking...
In a lot of cases, especially in the MTO, a crew chief would be sitting on the wing during taxiing. Wouldn't his view be an interesting viewpoint?

will people that bought the fs9 version get the fsx one free or discounted?

John - many congratulations!!:ernae:
This is a superb piece of work by all concerned. IMHO worth the wait; price comparisons are futile. What you get is truly awesome flying experience.

But repainters beware!! I've just done a rework of the factory fresh textures to remove the serial and replaced them with 43-7145, a P-51B-5-NA of the 487th FS 352nd FG 'HO-Z', the personal mount of Lt Carl Luksic. BUT YOU CANNOT EDIT AND SAVE THE AIRCRAFT.cfg. If you try it corrupts and the aircraft just appears pancaked on the runway. You have to rename the new texture file with an existing one to view your creation.

For obvious reasons at the moment I don't feel safe in posting a screenshot of this, but what it does show is that repaints are not too difficult with the kit as purchased - Jan please note....!:d

That's me you're talking about? It's actually Jan Kees, or JanKees if you prefer. In that case, it's noted. But I'm still waiting for an answer on FSX before I take any plunge.
Would this be yet another anti-piracy pitfall?
"Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me"...

The Flight Dynamics have as John pointed out, been tweaked & tweaked and then tweaked some more. We talked to a couple of '51' owners here in the UK and we hope we acheived the most realistic flying experience for the Mustang. We knew if John was pleased then it must be good.

The idea is that if you use a force feedback stick put the force settings on full, so the aeroplane real talks to you. From my experience of full size taildraggers, the Sim models of the same are always too twitchy and generally too easy to fly. Can't say for definate on the Mustang as have only ever gone in the back!

The FSX models when we do eventually release them will be a seperate purchase.
We wanted to go first with the FS9 models as believe it or not there are still more people using FS9 than FSX.

John is an employee of Warbirdsim so it is very difficult for him to comment about company policies and decisions that are directed at him. Please be patient and we will try to answer as many questions as possible.

Really hope all that eventually buy the aircraft will be pleased with their purchase.

Are you sure its not just read only properties on the cfg? Try rt click cfg file and see what it says.

Paintkits

Folks!

Our initial plans to release our own texture sets seems to have very much gone against the grain!
While this may well happen at some stage...

We will be releasing a Paint Kit!

What we would like to do is allow the paints to uploaded to this site, Flightsim.com, Warbirdsim and a few others.

For those who can use the factory example, then that is a great place to start.

We were worried about piracy, and the passing around of this product.
Please help us make sure this does not happen.

More details this week.
