New B-29 Fleet

Hiya UncleTgt,

Thanks for taking the time to post those screenies. Dave sent me his custom textures late last night (early this AM). I got them and installed them to my "local" Iwo Jima texture sub-folder folder. Got a chance to test and all works as you illustrate with your screen shots. Then I went to bed! Hehe!

Visually and fun wise this newer LWM/G2K style scenery making is very satisfying. But distributing and installing it- just in terms of the number of files involved and where to put them- is no where near as simple as it used to be!

Thanks for the input and the screen shots. Great looking stuff!

Haven't decided whether to use the full tilt volcanic shorelines or just go with the darker ones.

Think I might be leaning to the darker- just because the effect seems a bit subtler. However I really like the grey sand. Might play with these a bit myself and see what I can come up with.

BTW Dave, thanks, buddy for sharing!

Oh Boy....it would seem the whole island would have to be black sand for the full tilt volcanic to work. You're right. It just don't fit the picture. Kinda like a square peg in a round hole.

Anyway, no not amway, glad you could find a use for them MR. They are one of many things that are a MIP on my end. (mess in progress) :d

Hi all !
Sorry :kilroy:
I've had so many post to read before :bump:
The best is to add the new custom lines you need in g2k ,to make vtp1 lines, with alpha,to use in G2k and add them the in the OwnLines.txt in ...\Program Files\Ground2K\Ground2K\Resource
look to this post about the trench lines
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=12995&daysprune=-1

after using/drawing the news lines it could be possible to make the blend with the landclass work using a lava or a custom lava sand texture in the same tones of the new volcan beach line
you could even add in your g2k to draw them , the lines I've painted for Afnor and Truk ,JBrock shores ,the coral lines etc ...
here some pics ,they have not the best resolution but they give the mood and the color of Iwo Jima

And if you don't mind my adding, quite a contrast between the Mount Suribachi mesh rendering in CFS2 and the real thing, eh? Now there's a real project for a zealous mud-mover!

Got about 5 more Superfort skins in the works, so keep those bases coming MR - Looking fantastic, as usual! :salute:

Yeah, for sure. Surprisingly, the stock mesh and masks at Iwo Jima actually do a better job rendering Suribachi than either Rhumba's LOD8 or JP's LOD9 used in this scenery. Hehe, don't mean to be critical guys, just hashing the facts. ;)

The stock mesh/mask get Suribachi's elevation (540') within 30 feet or so- at 510'- and it renders much more of the detailing of the "crater". You can definitely make out the crater in the stock Iwo location.

Both of the custom meshes mentioned (tisk! tisk!) miss the elevation by about 60 feet- both have the summit coming in at 481 feet- and render the crater detailing almost not at all. I must say that redeveloping Iwo has been a little frustrating. :censored: And not because of the elevation and detailing of Mt Suribachi. Its just been hard getting things to "fit".

And to GR, thanks for all of the new Superforts. And I apologize profusely for side tracking this thread.
