Lol, mate you are killing me there! Nice one though, I am glad you're into them as much as I am. I had the old Airfix kits too, and one or two of the old Matchbox PR.9s too. Doing these FS versions is the next best thing really, maybe better in terms of storage space! I think I am going to wet myself doing repaints after the release - it seems you never run out of good potential schemes with the Cran.

It's 1680x1050, screenie resized and sharpened via PSP. I think the clue to all my screenies is Pablo Diaz's incredible Hi-Def clouds...

I second that concerning Paul's Canberra (isn't there any nickname for this EE beauty?).

'Cranberry' or just plain old 'Can' are the only I know of. The Argentinians abbreviated it to 'CNBR' but that doesn't have much a ring to it in my opinion.

Unfortunately for fighter canopy fans, no immediate plans for those models I'm afraid, but if the bomber canopy models do well, I could be persuaded The experimentals are definitely going to be fun; this is what I love about the Canberra- so many different flavours to model.

All good, hope they do luckily the RNZAF hired some B.2s off the RAF when 75 Squadron had a tour of duty based in Tengah 1958 to 1962, so slapping a 75 sqaudron emblem on the tail feathers is not an impossibility, and they had some T.4s (WD963, WJ859, WJ864) on loan as well.

Looking at several pics, I observe some decent soot crust at the fuselage's side, just in front of the wing root (leading edge side).
Where do these stains come from?
Exhaust fumes whirled off the engine' sides?

As stated elsewhere, I do love my planes dirty& worn, but I'd like to know why a certain (and distinctive) crust occurs...
For instance, I know the Tornado's tailfin is smoky because of the reverser fumes going this way, but I can't figure out the Canberra's fume stains.

Soot from the engine starter cartridge exhaust's,
the cartridge was about 3" (inches) in diameter, used ones were highly sought after, as being brass they would shine up quite nicely.

Now I also did learn what the holes on the "cowling's" sides are for. Is there also a third exhaust hole on their bottom side? Can't tell from the pics...

T.4 development

Latest update, I've got the T.4 exterior model built at last, clearing me for, well, more variant builds! I think the original launch date is now defunct, due to the real world intruding on the virtual one of late, and we're now more realistically looking at late October for a release now.

Anyway, here are some snaps of the T.4 as she stands at the moment:

Thanks fellas, yes 'late October' is tentative; I've got a holiday (eagerly awaited) coming up next month so that will put a delay in the plans. The standard B.2 VC is complete, barring a possible gauge change here and there, and I will post some pics of that up soon. The remaining work now is the rest of the exterior builds and corresponding VC builds, and of course their respective air files. I think the T.17 is next on the schedule before I cross the pond so to speak and tackle the RB/B-57As.

Exhaust fumes...yes I couldn't help myself and went for a dirty 'end of the era' T.4 - this the era I best I remember from my youth!

er, Steve...thats Rhumbold seat, after the manufacturer of said seat....
nice shots of the interior...oh did anyone ever mention the ring of bolts wot hold the glasshouse canopy down were fitted with explosive detonators too? (as were the ones on rear cockpit overhead hatch)

Padding on the ejection seat looks a little thin...in reality the seat pan cushion was fitted on top of the liferaft box (aka Personal Survival Pack usually bright yellow or olive green box)

IIRC from our safety training..some 30 yrs ago now.....most Canberra's had Mk 3 seats, some had Mk 4 seats retrofitted.

Crawling into rear cockpit underneath the live swing-seat on T4's always gave me the 'willies'

as anyone else who's been 'in' will tell you, anyone entering a cockpit with live ejection seats fitted must do the safety pin check on 'all' seats...'Safe for Parking' or 'Safe for Servicing'

This VC looks gorgeous, Steve!

Although I can live with 2D panels. Actually, there are not many aircraft besides the SF8 Sabre I use to operate from the VC. But this one becomes awesome!

I'm particulary fond of the "De-Mister" lettering on the windshield frame:
The german word "Mist" means something you use to call "manure"...

To Rhumbold or not to rumble, that is the question...well not any more apparently. I've seen it written both ways, but of late, the debate seemed to swing to 'rumble' seat. I had no idea there was an inventor behind the seat.

Ref the seat marks, the photos I've been working from appear to have the Mark 2CA seat fitted:

I see on the variants section for the Mk. 3 that there were Canberra versions, it's just I can't build every possible variation and have opted for a generic seat. I will see about getting the padding and liferafts on there though.

I watched an old Canberra servicing video from the 50s the other day; they were very, very particular about safety pin fitting among other things. Can't think why...
