NEW Package For Stock CFS3

For those of you who just want a refresh for your stock Combat Flight Simulator 3, without a lot of complexity and if you don't have the time or inclination to master bat files, I provide a link for an upgrade package for the stock game.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/46j7m7pyofc64ob/Combat_Flight_Simulator_3.zip/file

It includes a whole swag of Airfighter_55's great vehicles.

Many guns and weapons are modified.

It includes corrected xdps to allow stock ju_88 A and P to spawn, and the p51d. All these had typos. Typos for numerous ships (eg German u boat) and stock vehicles (eg, jagdpanther/jagpanzer etc) are fixed so they will spawn. It includes the brand new effects. xml (thanks Majormagee!) which fixes stock typos but also features a whole lot more.

Ankors shaders are built in, as is a suite of Appdata files. For those who have trouble with Ankor's shaders and get a message to run cfsconfig again, the trick is to ignore the message and simply restart CFS3. The shaders include a feature which disables the need to re-run cfsconfig when changes are made.

A not too demanding texture sheet is included as are key files in the assets folder - including meshbuilderbudgets and vectordatalinings.xmls .

The recon spawns are corrected so you can now fly recon missions in a campaign and actually achieve the mission goals.

Three campaigns are included - If you fly the German campaign, the missions are different from if you fly the American campaign. The German one has more emphasis on intercept and CAP missions, for example. The British campaign emphasises missions like Sweep, and the American campaign emphasises Escort missions. So not everybody is expected to do blasted anti_ship missions all the time! (although it does still pop up as an option).

A couple of Missions are included - some test anti ship missions and one for a Sherman tank.

The best mission is for a driveable tank at Bastogne - a British Churchill by Airfighter. This is a tough mission.

Seems like a very good idea, but I am afraid that I won't be downloading it while it is only available from mediafire. I've caught too many problems with malware from adverts on that site ! :banghead:

yum, it looks like easy installation. just upnpack and go, right?

mediafire is my primary storage for all my racesim and flightsim add-on releases, many thousands downloads during latest years, but I didnt noticed someone would say that to my stuff. I believe such bad happens, but I also believe there is a way to avoid of/skip such adverts or such pain.

Never had a problem with mediafire up or downloading.

I should mention that this has a deliberately "old school" look to it. It won't look like ETO but if that is your thing you can always install Johnno's Scenery.

FXtextures needed?

I don't recall if I included the .dds textures from the Effects/fxtextures folder in this upload. If you think you may not have them all, I included the .dds textures when I uploaded the upgraded effects.xml here at SOH, under CFS3-other-effects. In the zip file you will find the .dds textures which will help an enormous amount if you only have stock CFS3 installed.

Sound Files Too

Also included in the master effects.xml upload were some .wav files you should add to your install. I included some in this stock CFS3 upgrade package but there may (will) be some additional .wav files in the effects package you should stick in your install too.

Hi Daiwilletti, after installing all looks good except I found the g_sdkfz10-4 is missing its model file (.m3d) from the folder, it spawns in with the yellow pacman smiley face, just copied and renamed another file into match the xdp and its fine (used the g_sdkfz251_pak40 to test).

Gidday
I'm guessing that would be because I renamed the folder to match the xdp name. There should be a g_flaktrack folder containing the m3d? I'm just guessing because I am not at my CFS3 computer at the moment, but take a look. Will update later.

Here is the xdp file detail: ShortName="SdKfz 10/4" ModelName="G_FlakTrack.m3d". So if it is the stock 10/4 you are talking about, the folder name is g_flaktrack. However it is possible that it is an Airfighter55 vehicle with a slightly different name, let me know.

Just for your info this is what I am seeing in that folder, Ive sorted it for myself

PS this was a completely clean install with just your pack added.

Thanks for the pack its great

Glad you like it! I think it works best on a clean install. As for that German flaktrack, I think it must be from one of Airfighter's vehicles. Will tidy it up when I get a round tuit.

Downloads

The package has been downloaded 171 times. No feedback. Is this a good or a bad thing? No idea :running:

I'd love to hear from people who have successfully run the two tank missions.

No Luck

Followed instructions carefully and still no luck. Keeps telling me the config. is out of date. Tried many times but same message. Did everything the instructions laid out so i know it must be my pc or something. Running Win 7 64 bit. Installed the ETO expansion and have no problems ,so i know i can follow directions. Is there something i can try to fix this ? thanks for any help....
