This is just fantastic. Got my 2 wings out for this one and had a blast today. :salute::salute::salute: I think adding some shade under the static aircraft would be a plus, but I'm not complaining. Thank you for a remarkable contribution.

Funny you should mention the shade under the static airplanes dvj. Michael (MCDesigns) also brought that up to me, however, at the time I was working on an area that wasn't level, there were/are slight undulations in the terrain and actually not near as pronounced as the real thing. Those undulations made adding shadows very hit and miss since they need to be on a flat plane and I didn't have much of that at all. By turning shadows on in the sim, you get a nice feel for what it would look like, but it causes fps problems with some setups and the grass and shrubs cast flat shadows which look tacky. . .hence no shadows at all.

Great job fellas! :applause: Like they say in the commercials: "I'm Lovin' It!"

I had to add a bunch of parking to accommodate my old Team ORA AI. It is still a pretty good FPS hit, but, other than an occasional stutter it's smooth.

I finally have a decent place to park my custom Ryan STA too. Thanks to all involved. :icon29:. ..Don

yeah, just tried with shadows = fps hit. And not much of an appearance improvement if any.

One option I considered was to add shadowing directly on the ground texture, but decided against that since we were doing two versions of the Aerodrome. We would have had shadows on the ground where the aircraft would normally be parked during the "Off Season". The other thought was to have two ground textures, but as you can see if you check the size of the "photo01.bgl" in the scenery folder, it's over 300meg as it is. Adding another would have made the installed scenery close to 2gig. Ouch!! lol

Roger has contacted the forum librarian to update the link. The working ling can be found on page 2 of this thread and the file can also be downloaded from AVSIM here:

Spad54 and others,

I checked it, and the link is no different than the one you're using. I'm getting the database error as well. This is precisely why I hesitate and loathe when a user tries to set up an off-site download package. We have a server for a season, and direct links to files in the SOH database are the most reliable. If you upload here and can split the file into two parts, that would be a useful solution.

I don't think there is a way I can correct this one for you.

It appears that the database error can not be repaired as indicated by Rami's post above. I've asked that it be taken down. The file can be accessed directly from our Golden Age Simulations server here http://goldenagesimulations.com/GAS/GAS_ORA_2.0.zip

or at AVSIM here http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=Old+Rhinebeck&CatID=fsxscen&Go=Search

I will take a look at how it may be uploaded here but am waiting on guidance on how that might be accomplished. Sorry for the inconvenience

Hey guys,

I lashed out irrationally at an SOH member in the last couple of hours, and I need to make it right. I sent him this in a PM, but I also want to make it public.

Spad54,

Hey...you're 100% right on the response. Mea culpa and a half, my friend. I was in the middle of grading tests during a prep period, and some of my best students bombed, I suspect, because they thought they could just "coast" through it. I vented my frustration and rage at the first target, which happened to be you. (The lesson? Never respond to threads when you are grading materials) You didn't do anything to deserve that, so I offer my sincerest apologies. Please do not take it personally.

To set things right, the file is approximately 380 MB, correct? Well, splitting the archive in two might be feasible, but let me see, now that I am home with a stable connection, if I can get it to work. If you get stuck uploading, PM me back, and "nice Rami" will gladly respond to help. I'll keep my evil twin chained up in the basement.

Once again, please forgive my misplaced rage.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

Spad54,

Hey, I just tried running a Google search for Golden Age Simulations, and my BitDefender flagged the website and blocked me from proceeding further. Any clues as to why? (I was trying to go to the site myself and nose around for a direct link...aside from the one Roger gave me in a PM) :isadizzy:

No reason why that should happen. We're hosted on Blue Host and have had no issues with them, their server or our website. Let me call them.

Just had our hosting company run a report on the site and it's clean with no negative reports. used sucuri.net
