P3 Update.........

"Don't even think about trying to have both P2 and P3 on the same machine."???

It might be a little awkward but a method I used to run Hell's Angels for single player and Promised Land for mmp in Red Baron should work quite well. What I did (adapted for OFF) is:

since you've already got P2 installed and running smoothly, rename your CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder to, say, P2;

change the target command in the shortcut properties from "X:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\OFFManager.exe" to "X:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\P2\OFFManager.exe";

install P3 (you can rename the folder and adjust the target path on its shortcut, too, but that would probably not be necessary).

That way your computer will see the two as totaly seperate programs not related to one another and there should be no confusion. The only potential problem might be the WWI Scenery folder. It's independent of the OFF folder in P2 and if it is also in P3 and still carries the same name (both of which would seem likely) then you'd have to adjust whatever command directs each version where to pick up the scenery and do the apprpopriate renaming there, as well. Alternatively you could create a seperate Microsoft Games folder for each version, but that would require installing CFS3 in each.

I know it sounds complicated, but it's really not.

Please read my post von B, that will mess up P2 and P3, you have OTHER files in app data for example. WW1Scenery is totally different in P3. Registry is totally different too.

You cannot comment on how to mix P3 and P2 until you have P3?

WM has said do not have both on the machine, I have said so too, then you post this??

Ahh an expert - problem is there is only one set of registry settings...so no way mate.

Guys lets try not to talk too much before thinking but hey as long as you buy OFF I care not if you use it even to prop up the coffee mug.

I apologize. You are right, of course, that I don't know about Phase 3. I stand corrected.:redf:

If you like I will remove the post.

Not at all - I am just trying to keep the facts clear so that we have less support issues!

P1, P2 and P3 all use the same reg settings (with additional structures as they go). This is because they are phases of one game.... so they cannot co-exist...

No problem just it gets very messy for new users - the devs say one thing then someone says the opposite and P3 aint out yet lol.

I know the wait is agonising, same here believe me. We finished our work weeks ago, and working as fast as possible then to have this wait is driving us nuts.. hey ho the way of the world.

I don't know, but it sounds to me like... P2=your first bike with training wheels and P3=your multi speed English Racer. Once your onto P3 there's no reason to look back! :applause:

Royce is right!

Royce

That is spot on!

Why would anyone want to carry on with the training wheels when the English Racer has arrived?

As I am fortunate to have a beta version of the English Racer, I can tell you that this is the only bike you will want to ride once you have the wrapping off.

Agreed Royce, I have been flying P1 then P2 since the start. In the same way that I have no desire to use that old PC I gave to my mother in law, I have no room for nostalgia for P2 now that P3 is imminent. The King is dead, long live the King!

Happy days,
Conrad.

Guys just to let you all know that the P3 V1.0 DVD was sent to the UK for the start of publishing yesterday via speed courier - it arrived today 25hours later - yeah impressive.

No I have no idea when you will be able to purchase P3 but I can say the product is ready and its AWESOME.

Cheers

Any news?
You guys sure take your time when it comes to distribution and i still wounder why you didn´t go for a distribution via download as most independent developers these days.

The team finished beta testing weeks ago. The hold up is with the company handling on-line ordering/distribution, not the OFF team.

The size of the files needed to install Phase 3 runs into GiGs and most couldnt sustain a download of that size. Hence the use of a company to handle distribution.

When I first aquired Phase 2 it was by download. Phase 2 is less than 2 gigs and it took a month to download using dial up. I'm not kidding. Do you know what I went through with the Missus during that month of tying up the telephone? I'd much rather fly to South Africa and pick OFF BHAH up from WM myself than go through that again! I'm sure there are quite a few here at the OFF forum that are using dial up and might not be willing to spend 2 months or longer to download it. Also, with a disk you are virtually guaranteed that there are no corrupted files, unlike downloads, which from time to time can be corrupted during the download process.
Patience is a virtue and rarely seen in our age of "instant gratification", but like Granny used to tell me, "good things come to them that wait"!;)

May not be the right place for this question, CAMEL, but I just read your line "butcher of Saint Lieu". I'd like to start my alter ego carreer as David Marlowe with the British, but each Squad. I enlisted in, was miles away from the front line. Can you (or anyone else) tell me the earliest Camel or S.E.5 flying Squads close to the front?

That's one reason why I usually don't fly for the Allies. The loooooong flights (especially lone wolfers over the water) can be soooo boring. That "warp" button gets more and more attractive every mile. Don't get me wrong, WM's scenery is fantastic and really nice to look at, but I tend to doze off at times. Once I was flying a Camel and woke up just before it became a lawn dart!
Alzo! Ve fliegers of ze Fazzerland haff no fear of ze krumpet artillery zhellz vallink around our earz. Just zis morning I avoke to vind zat I haff a new svimmink pool outzide ze chateau! Actually zere vere about fifty new svimmink pools vis fresh vater in zem. (ve had much rain ze night before!) Now Lieu Zaint Amand looks like ze Beverly Hillz!

Yep we are in no hurry.
We have no overheads no salaries to pay etc and no budget - we release when we are ready - simple huh?

Download facilities are part of the package we have signed up for and we may still offer that as an option too - so best not to assume.

But that would not bring our release date any closer....

Hi Badkarma

I know waiting is tough but you really need to chill out a little. Some of us have been waiting for years anxiously watching and supporting this small band of men perform miracles to produce this sim without the trappings and infrastructure of professional developers. We are now in the final yards of the final mile and the finishing post is in sight. Please let them run their race.

The developers have been asked, and I believe have answered ,your question many times. They are working on it.Their truly massive part in the creation of OFF BHH is over and now they are just waiting on their distributors to ensure that all goes well on that side of the process.

Seasons greetings

Best

RFC-56 for the earliest Se5. It starts from April 1917 and it is pretty close to the front line.
By far my favorite Squadron. With Albert Ball etc. etc.. And the April of 1917 is the Bloody April. Pretty exciting time to start your career :friday:.
For Camels I dont know.

I have a question though...what is the earliest Se5 in P3?? Is it still RFC-56? If yes, it starts from the first of April just like P2? And when is the Hispano Suiza first release and when is the Viper? Cheers.

I'm certainly eager to see what OFF3 is about, but there are many areas of P2 that I haven't come close to exploring. I consider the P2 flying time as practice for the real thing when it does come.
