P3D/P4D screenshots redux...oops!

Very impressive. And great to see not only some activity and interest here again but some real tangible upgrades by Steve.

I have to figure out how to get my CV-43 to work outside the SWS system but with the wires. Maybe just need to try a reinstall . .

OK I just got a visual cable engagement and retraction testing in AICarriers on the SWS CV-41! Think following your lead Duckie it was a reinstall this time via the recommended location outside of the root folder.

Question: what if anything do you need to do re getting the tail hook to visually align with the cable for each aircraft? I was testing with my aging but trusty AS RA-5C Vigilante (very good fps in P3D4.5 btw) and the end of the hook visually was about 10 fit ahead of the end point of the stretched cable, ie a noticeable gap. There is a SWS add-on drop down for "configure tail hook" that I started to complete for the Vigi but then stopped as it was complicated. Do you do this or does the cable visually find the hook end for each aircraft automatically in AICarriers without any further fiddling?
Thanks
expat

Hey, expat, glad you got some positive results. So far I’ve not had to make any hook adjustments in the 3 aircraft I’ve tried.

Traps my AS Phantom, RA5C and Razbam EA-6A but not the AS Demon for some unknown reason. Also spawning SWS generated aircraft on deck in random configurations as I change aircraft. Want a clean deck but their deck configurator does not work in P3D. Typical frustrating SWS stuff!

Further SWS strangeness similar to other's previous experiences. Plane engaged on cat.
Plane sits correctly on deck only with sim in "pause." Un-pause, it sinks. Not sure why the tail is in the JBD.

Also got the RFN Crusader to launch and trap with some practice. They all sink a bit into the deck on the cat.

Sounds like you’re making good progress with air operations. Also sounds like you’re experiencing a somewhat opposite problem as I am. All I can get on either carrier is a clean deck. I’ve not been able to get the configurator to give me any option for aircraft on deck. It’s really a shame that this addon is so buggy. The models and animations seem to be really well done when they are working.

You said it! Today mucking around with the deck configurator gauge supposedly "reverting" to backup files SWS wiped clean air.cfg's on FIVE of my aircraft!!!
Need to be careful with this stuff.
But yes good progress so far overall.

expat, looking at your sunken deck A-6 photos I’m curious as to why the catapult track and shuttle engagement zone is so far aft as to allow contact with the JBD. Or, is the JBD too far forward? Either way I don’t think anything can be done about it.

Think the tail in the JBD only happens - for me - with the A-6. And I agree there are a number things we can't do anything about with this add-on!

Duckie - where did you source the VA-22 paint?

For anyone who may be interested I just uploaded my VA-22 A-7 repaint here in the FSX repaints Military Viet Nam category. It is awaiting approval (02/08/25 14:46 EST). The FSX Razbam model as well as the repaint is fully compatible with P3Dv4.5.

Almost finished upgrading the Virtavia A-6 paintkit to true native FSX / P3D standard with redrawn thinner. crisper panel lines and some cases corrected locations, shapes and sizes. All "REDS" that could be have been adjusted to more correctly meet their end points and edges. Some new details added like new landing gear door inner surfaces.

I've said all that to say I'll be doing a few new paints for the "Oldie but Goodie" using my new paintkit. To start with will be the CAG aircraft from VA-95. And, yes, I realize this is and A-6E TRAM and should be an A-6A, but it's what we've got and, to me anyway, it's close enough! Here are a few screen shots of what I've got so far. Also please note this is still a WIP and will change in some areas from what you see here when published.

Honey, I'm home!

Home_at_last.png

Finally, after several years of flying (in multiple sims) and more than 950 legs I have made it back home in my Round The World hop list! This used to exist on our multiplayer server(s) and I used to fly it online either alone or with other people. When we lost the ability to host hop lists after a server change I made what was left of my trip into a flight plan and I've been flying that on and off ever since. The online server used to keep records of who was where and who had completed the trip and I think I might be only the fourth or fifth person to ever complete the entire route despite it starting out as a FS2004 hop list!

Now I've completed this I need to find another challenge!
