Piper Pacer Super Pack, releasing!

I cut and pasted this into the file and then found that the instruments weren't lined up in the cockpit. So changed the panel from 'Bush' to 'New' and everything now is back to normal. Still loving it all and even had phone calls from my drinking friends this evening wondering where I've been for the last two nights.......well am at present between Compton Abbas and Dunkeswell!!!

Thanks to all again,

Best wishes,

Martin

Hey Martin,

Just a heads up. When you are putting a new panel selection with a paint scheme, you need to find a plane that has 'that panel' and copy/paste in the same panel textures. There are 5 different panel texture sheets to copy/paste. This will then allow you to have the panel you want.

In the Registry block, you must have the model match the panel; New, New; Bush, Bush, and Classic, Classic. If you have a Bush model with a Classic panel, grim.... Very grim.. Textures totally askiew... :S

Bill

Yep. My apologies. For some reason, that zone really went horrible when trying to do precision work around the base of the windscreen, bottom corners. It stretches and gets fuzzy on the model. Very difficult to match up zones on the texture sheets when making line edges around there. Overlapping the area works good, staying a bit away from the corner zone. (You did that I see, looks good on the second screenshot).

Started this repaint but have a bit of trouble with matching the breaks on the front of the fuselarge

Can I say a big thank you for creating your British registered example, but for some reason am having a spot of bother with it after installing the update. Up comes a box on the screen saying if I remember 'multiple entries'?.

I only have a small amount of time in the Tripacer and all in the same aeroplane which was G-ARHP:
http://www.abpic.co.uk/search.php?q=G-ARHP&u=reg

As to the Pacer, I used to fly in the aptly registered G-PAXX:
http://www.abpic.co.uk/results.php?q=G-PAXX&fields=all&sort=latest&limit=10

I've over 650 hours on Super Cubs, 150 on Austers and then bits and pieces on other taildraggers, and am loving her to bits. Feel very much at home in her and although only flown the Pacer for a couple of hours now and not stalled, or spun her, am enjoying every minute. Side slipped nicely yesterday down onto a local grass strip and had one of the best virtual flights I think I've ever had. One of the nicest models I've ever come across.

Happy Landings,

Martin

Hi Martin - im going to have a go at doing G-ARHP later this week.

Bill, I may have missed something but is a patch expected on the pack newer than 1.01?

Yesterday I got a second notice from SimMarket that an update was available. The first such notice was for the v1.01, so I'm guessing this is a different one, although I haven't downloaded it yet.

Nope, same one. Presently, the Piper Pacer is build 1.01. I reuploaded the entire Installer set (Build 1.01 full, and the updater for bringing 1.0 to 1.01) because the belly beacon light on the Tri-Pacer missed the update. So perhaps Miguel was saying 'reload it'.

Negative. If you presently have Build 1.01, you are fine, that is the highest Build. If you purchase it, you should be purchasing the Build 1.01 as I uploaded links to all of my vendors.

So, Build 1.01 is the only one out there to get, no updates should be needed if you buy it now. To verify your Build series, open up one of the Pacers folders, open the 'aircraft.cfg' file with Windows Notepad, and along the top, it should say 'Build 1.01'.

Nice repaints, guys! I am so tempted to join in with painting but I am even more anxious to work on new planes. So many awesome planes to make, so little time.

What a fantastic package this is. Having a blast with it!! Outstanding job Bill.

Just one minor issue, my oil pressure reads 60 PSI on all models with the power above idle. On the new and classic panels this puts the oil pressure needle just below the green band into the yellow band. Is this normal?

Rgr that. Thanks Bill.

Thanks Bill! I have downloded once you posted it so probably I need to redownload to get the correct beacon too.

I had a blast with it on line last evening slipping it in on a 28 knot head-cross wind on Skagway:

Hi Martin - this one is almost done. Just have to try to line up the nose a bit now.

Very impressed!!! Thank you. Its always nice to 'fly' something in the sim that you have sampled in real life.

Cheers,

Martin

I thought of another one today and that is G-ARGY a Tripacer which has been converted into a Pacer. Seems this was a trend in the UK in the late 80s, early 90s. She's owned by French friends of ours. Arnaud is normally to be found at the controls of the semi-scale Mosquito replica that is operated by the RRAA.

Just downloaded/installed this aircraft and now beginning first "test" flights.
I can't make any judgment at this time, but one fact bothers me from the beginning :
Many gauges are slight milky to cloudy. (my personal feeling)
Additionally, choosing poor visibility the readability of the instruments nearly goes to zero. Although this is a very old aircraft, the good readability of the instruments is an important ingredient for safe aircraft handling.
I don't fly with 2D-panel, but these gauges are really clear.

Isn't it possible to achieve an approvement in this regard?

Have you read the manual - if you click the windscreen or the fire extingusher you can change the clarity of the guagues and windscreen

Yes I did ****.

Even with a cleaned plexi glass some gauge are not really clear.
The ADF gauge for example is clear, but not comparable with attitude indicator or some others.

Well, as I wrote above, my personal feelings.

Piper P22 Colt

Hi Bill

Do you go to make a P22 Colt variant of Tripacer ?

I have som images of the aircraft used by a danish female 'Simone Aabeg Kaern' how fly from Denmark to Kabul in Afghanistan.

Flying to Kabul
After the September 11 attacks, airspace became restricted, and allied forces deposed the Taliban regime.
In January 2002, Kærn sat in a café in Copenhagen and read a newspaper article about Farial, (16-year old girl in Kabul) wanting to fly airplanes. Kærn decided to fly with partner Magnus Bejmar 6,000 km to Kabul and give the girl the experience of flight, and also reclaim the freedom of the skies.
With money from WASP paintings in Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, she bought a Piper Colt from 1961, a small airplane.
During a 3 month trip through flight-restricted Balkan, they met with female fighter pilots in Turkeyand talked about the world's first female fighter pilot Sabiha Gökçen,and made an aerial heart of smoke with the Turkish Air Force.
On day 77, they flew from Mashhad, Iran crossing the border, to Herat without authorization from NATO.
In Kabul, they met with Farial who got to fly the plane. They also met with two colonel sister pilots flying Mil Mi-17 helicopters. In the end, cultural differences prevented Farial going further.

As someone who flies a 1946 Chief, I think the gauges look spot on! These old aircraft don't usually have sparkling new avionics. It's part of their charm. I for one deeply appreciate the modeling of the complete experience rather than merely a Pacer skin on what is essentially otherwise a C172. I've only flown the classic so far. Does the Bush model with its updated avionics look fresher and clearer?

"Really clear" gauges would not be appropriate or realistic on this aircraft.

Does the Bush model with its updated avionics look fresher and clearer?

Yes, it does.

Well, your arguments have convinced me.
For me it is probably just a matter of getting used to this gauges equipment.

I guess it is personal preference - after flying for a while, i dont notice the dirt - bit like on the old flying club aircraft i flew.
