History And Mission

The "Devil's Own Squadron", DOS for short, was officially formed on September 1, 2008.
Its base is firmly rooted in the origins of the AARP squadron, which since the initial release of CFS3 has distinguished
itself not only in the arena of online flying but the general advancement of the game as well. Taking in new members on regular basis and providing both technical as well as flight instruction and support, the AARP has forged its name in the annals of CFS history.
In late August of 2008, several key members of the current AARP saw a need to form a new squadron of CFS brothers, their intention to further expand the CFS experience while increasing the competiveness of online competition. Subsequently the DOS was born.
While the DOS is, in part, comprised of a number of former AARP members, the AARP continues to thrive and flourish under its original name. As such, the mission of the DOS remains the same ...

"We, of the Devil's Own Squadron, pledge to continue the traditions of the CFS experience established by the distinguished squadrons that have come before us and will continue after ..."

We salute the AARP, RCAF, IMS, RAF, and BLACKSHEEP squadrons for their contributions and dedication to CFS. We look forward to adding to the history of CFS as the DOS and endeavor to ascend to the level of expertise those before us have attained.

For the Devil's Own Squadron ...

Good Bye Friend

I tried a couple of times last night to post my condolences but each time ended up canceling my post. I just feel compelled to add a sentence or two more and explain my feelings.

It is Saturday morning and I am in my basement domain in front of my computer with a cup of coffee. This is a routine that has been repeated almost every Saturday for months now. I sit down fire up SOH and toss a PM to writer301 letting him know that TS is up. He would join up my day would begin.

At first he would help me tweak my machine and then do a session of CFS3. He or I would host and compare strategies on one on one. And if someone posted a host we would join up and combine efforts wing man style just to have a little fun with it.

But then it changed a bit. We began to spend more time talking about other stuff. You know life in general things. I learned a lot about Cole. I learned that like myself he had survived the trials and tribulations of raising a couple of teen aged girls into adulthood. We compared notes and shared stories and on more than one occasion had each other howling with laughter about it. This is only one of the many things we had in common.

At some point Mrs. Ghost would arise and Cole would talk to her letting her know it was Tail on TS. I would jokingly order breakfast and a fresh cup of Joe. I could hear her in the back ground making fun of it. Cole would always play it up too. At some point I would hear things stirring in my home and it would be time to sign off start our day.

We all know the kind of guy Cole was. "The Doctor" was always there to help. He would not hesitate at any time to setup a second channel on TS and walk some through setting up CFS3 tweaks or installing ETO. He helped me many times over and when I had some ideas about something he was my go to guy for input.

Our last few Saturday sessions changed yet again. Recently I have been able to figure out a bit about mission building in ETO. Cole was all over that. He asked for and I gladly gave my time to help him get a handle on it. It is my understanding that he had just completed his first mission and I am truly honored to have been able to help him with it.

Well I guess it's time to sign off now. My condolences to Mrs. Ghost and to all Cole’s friends and family.

I raise my coffee and toast a man,

ghost911... writer301.... Capt. cranky pants...DOS Ghost..The Doctor..

Cole…Friend

Fly strong brother fly strong
