We are working as fast as we can - OFF was completed end November 2008 and we were going to start shipping DVDs manually ourselves as per our original announcement of the 'pre-order' indication system we set up.

Moreover this email system was to have dictated the order of dispatch on a first come first serve basis and it would have been a slow process indeed.

However we decided against the team slaving away over Xmas making DVDs and posting and have signed up with an e-commerce company and we are close to having all details available for you all.

We are currently running a QA check on the manufactured DVD.
To this end we, as OBD, have bought the first OFF DVD! - alas posting has proven slow due to time of year....

Hang in there soon we hope to announce how and where everyone can buy OFF and I believe the payment options are as flexible as can be - see Pols post.

Finally I guess the move to an e-tailer sounds like we have a 'mint' coming in in terms of sales - alas thats not the case - as indicated by the number of 'pre-orders' which is certainly not mountainous.
However we are all tired and given that none of us wants to be making and posting DVDs out over this Festive season we are paying someone else to do it.

But it has cost us some time - sounds about right - everything costs either time or money or both...oh yeah its costing us money too lol

Just my opinion, but I see know reason at all why this thread would need to be closed.

Just because one member asks for a thread to be closed isn't a good enough reason. And just because people are disagreeing isn't a valid reason either...this is a discussion forum after all.

Freedom of speech should be protected, except were opinions become racist, slanderous, or R-rated. That hardly applies here.

There was no name calling or serious personnal attacks in this thread, just differing opinions. People should be allowed to state their positions like adults and work it out for themselves, which is what already happened in this thread.

And of course,on a practical level, closing a thread is just a complete waste of time anyway...that will never stop a problem user from posting inflammatory stuff in other threads. If there is really a serious problem with a particular user (and I don't see that there is) then that one individual should be banned from the forum after sufficient warning.

Closing threads just removes others chance for rebuttal and to state their own opinion and is not the answer.

I don't think it could have been handled much better than it has been. It has always been said that this would be a DVD issue. And what is happening must be better than 4 or 5 guys burning DVDs into the early morning.

I hope you are wrong here- and i think you might well be. Just lately there seem to have been quite a number of newbies to the forum, which suggests that word is finally getting through out there- thanks, I think, in no small part to some excellent vids - the kind of evidence that guys cannot ignore.
So, hopefully, Winder, you and your team may be pleasantly surprised at the demand you will meet when the sim is released. I certainly hope so. I haven't seen such anticipation of a comprehensive flying simulation for a very long time.

I was wondering - following the line of attracting newbies . . . .

Will it be still acceptable to kick out phase 2 DVD's to anyone wanting a copy after phase 3 comes online?

I for one will keep sending them out provided it is still approved by the OFF team.

I for one, am curious where exactly all the bickering occured in THIS thread. I can see haveing HD censorship, what with teenagers looking in from time to time. But there must be a difference between a disagreement and an argument :ernae:
 
As for this thread closing nonsense, I agree with 77Scout. I have taken no part in this thread until now but surely we can all agree to disagree at times without threat of thread closure. It's just childish.
 
Some thoughts

Not that what I think matters but... we can agree to disagree. And we can spread the Gospel of OFF BHAH to all our friends and associates. Maybe the dev.team will send out some advance copies to the pertanate magazines, web sites and whatall-wherevers to get some press and reviews. I'm willing to make an OFF hat and or t-shirt and wear the sum-beech all over this frozen tundra I got here. Hey, I know there is little or no budget but I sincerely hope, pray, for BHAH to be the most successful independent development project. The dev.team should be richly rewarded. I found out about OFF on YOUTUBE, get some more movies out there. Of course the big thing we are missing is Massive Multi-Player. If we could form up squads and jastas that would be a boon for sales. I'm not on here to criticize anyone or anything. I am so appreciative that OFF exists and that this is such a truly good community of kind and helpful folks. Well, this is a one fool brainstorm. Now that I have embarrassed myself I' ll go fly and get my just deserts. Shot down of course.

When I see comments like that it tells me that at least one guy if not more is beginning to be put off by the contents of a particular thread for one reaon or another. Obviously I didn't close it....But sometimes a thread will get closed to cut off beefs before they happen. Capicshe?(or however ya spell it). Anyway, when my name is called, I respond ASAP usually with a warning which is what the previous post of mine was. This is why I get the big bucks!!!

Anytime a forum (SOH) of this magnitude opens with easy access , you are sure to get a few oddballs .Even
blacklisting won't work for long . One warning is enough, then :icon31:.(This is a chlorine dose for defective gene pools.) I hope my humor is not offensive.

Hi Middle: Yep, thanks for giving the thread a fair warning and letting things work themselves out. I think as our moderator you ARE worth big bucks. It tends to be a very under appreciated job. Thanks for doing what you do and doing it well. :applause:
