Coupla thoughts on the ski version.
I don't think fx_tchsnw is a default effect. David and I used it in the ski version of our Gee Bee Model A, and I recall that it took some finding, and we had to credit the author. Anyway, it's a good one, and if anyone doesn't have it, you can get it with our Gee Bee Model A.
It fits into the Effects section of the Aircraft,cfg file like this:
dirt=fx_tchsnw
To complete the package you should also have a snow sound effect to simulate the sound of skis sliding on snow. This means having a separate sound set for the ski version. Milton packaged the ski version with a complete sound set, but I think it's the same one as the wheeled version has. Don't be tempted to combine the versions into a single aircraft folder, or to alias the sounds to the wheeled version. Instead, get the ski sound and edit the sound.cfg file.
The ski sound has the file name "ski" and I don't think it's a stock sound. I forget where we found it, but you can get it from our Gee Bee Model A. Put a copy into the sound folder, then edit the sound.cfg file like so:
Go to each of the [GROUNDROLL] sections (there are six of them) and edit the first line to look like this:
[GROUND_ROLL]
filename=ski
Then your ski plane will not only look like it's sliding on snow, it will sound like it too.
