Rafale C for FS2004

Uh, too late. Sixteen years of surfing and downloading, and zero instances of malware of any kind. If I've been infected, I'm done with the Flightsim world. Call me pissed...

Well? What's the verdict? If you had anything your anti-virus, if up to date, should have caught it immediately. The worm Tom identified is not something new.

I didn't encounter any but then the copy I had came from a different developer's machine and the copy from last December was a zip file. The copy of the final release version I downloaded was installed in a temp folder to check a couple files and then manually removed. So I never ran the uninstaller (and don't intend to now :kilroy:) in either case.

I'll stick to the jets I have. Been trying to download this one not knowing it has a worm on board.

Hi All,

Good model, very miss the vapor effect!
The paintkit available?
Yes Isra the DXT.bmp needs to change, dim the texture!

Hello

I can report that it flys well in FSX too.

Just could one of the community be so kind to modify the glass_aft.bmp to be FSX Compatible?(is black in FSX)

The Vapor effect I have taken from the elder FA-18 by FS KBT

Thanks

Roland

It's all very safe. Just tell your downloaders and virus checkers to bugger off and get on with it. :salute:

Here are the aircraft.cfg changes I sent to the VPA team yesterday after the preview. Not sure if they made it into the final download or not. But just in case open each "aircraft.cfg" to edit and make these changes. This will stop ATC from calling you "Experimental".

If you have the Military AI Works Rafale package, you could use one of the atc_airline entries there.

So the verdict is this does have a virus/worm in it, or doesn't? Personally I'm not prepared to risk the download if there is any doubt.

Checking on it. I just got an email from Philippe saying he was sending new install files to be pushed up onto the server. From my experience his machine is clean. Vincent's probably is also but the install file everyone downloaded was put together on his machine.

I've been told there have been 600+ downloads so far with no problems other than a few instances of Norton trying to interfere in the name of safety.

Let's see, 43MB x 600 in 24 hours. Ouch. I hope they have unlimited bandwidth on that account. If not, it might have been cheaper to pay Dassault off and see it they would shoulder the downloads as part of the agreement. :kilroy:

I'll wait for the new file then. Too many unknowns here - wasn't just Norton, the fact that Chrome flagged it when I looked at downloading it put me off.

I'm with you, Andy. Bear in mind that it wasn't the installer that had the baggage... it was the UNINSTALL program. Albeit said, I will attempt to re-download the file once the new install files Frank spoke of are up. I plan to get my hands on the new Rafale one way or another... but it's gotta be safe.

I have just replaced the soundset with the sounds from Thor's Hammer FSX Freeware Rafale, I'll let you know how that turned out later ... Mike :salute:

For your information

I have sent a comment/question on the VPA Rafale Team forum concerning the position of french national roundel on the fuselage behind
the canard foreplanes with this reference material :

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Fran...90572/L/&sid=4a80549a3d96a79bec4993ab528d421b

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Fran...76254/L/&sid=4a80549a3d96a79bec4993ab528d421b

Compared to the real Rafale C, the fuselage roundel on the VAP Rafale is simply too far behind the canards.
At least by full diameter of the roundel and may be more.

After some repaint testing I have made, this seems related to the pattern of the different subfiles of the 3D model
and quite complicated to correct.

To all top gun repainters :
If you fond a way to correct this, please transmit your discovery to the VPA Rafale Team.

Just in case anyone who has concerns hasn't been back to check, the Rafale download is now available as an optional ZIP file.

Also, I'm sure they would also really like to get some feedback and have it on their website. Apparently with 700+ downloads there has been no feedback from folks who downloaded the English language version. They did afterall make an extra set of gauges with US units and English language (not to mention an English language manual). So if you want to see the Rafale B and Rafale M produced or even this one improved (I know I do) you need to let them know and do so on their website: http://rafalevpa.xooit.fr/f16-Foreigner-s-bar.htm

This is freeware. Your feedback, good or not, is the payment.

Thanks Frank!! The zip file came up clean as a hounds tooth after being scanned with my AV program... I'll have a little time this morning to go through some ground school with the new model. (Just so I can figure out how to get the engines lit...:icon_lol:). Hopefully flying this afternoon.

Had to strain the old brain cells, but I think I got the point across :wavey:

Merci beaucoup pour une création merveilleuse. Mon français est rouillé si je ne peux pas exprimer ma gratitude pour cette nouvelle addition à FS9.
