Rafale C for FS2004

Words about what has .. it's been so long that I forgot
Dassault also probably :icon_lol:

Hopefully this project didn't slip between our fingers, and it's a lost cause to keep chasing it. There were quite the lot of us who wanted to fly the new Rafale....:salute: In the meantime... Cyril's Rafale is getting lots of attention from my virtual pilot crews.

Here is a french message from one member of the VPA Rafale Team put today on their website :

Hello!!

ENFIN!!

Free short translation in english :

Availability of this Freeware Rafale for FS9 : This month of April !
Probably the last week of April 2012 !

Lets hope and pray !

The first version of this Rafale family to be released by the VPA Rafale Team will be
the single seater Rafale C ( French Armée de l'Air ) for FS9.

Stay tuned !

He was also concerned by reports Rafales were outperformed by Typhoons in operations over Libya.

....Rightly so... have you seen how much you can hang under a Typhoon compared to Rafale? :icon_lol: thing's a bombtruck!

IAF response to the manipulation spin: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-aviation-2012/Selection-of-Rafale-for-mega-defence-contract-final-Raju/articleshow/12230207.cms

The decision has been made. Now it's all about negotiating the contract details. As long as the number crunchers on both sides don't muck it up the IAF will get the aircraft they (and not the politicians) selected.

And hopefully everyone will also be able to fly this new Rafale by the end of the month.

Sorry my friend but this is distorted news from Pro-Typhoon Britain !
( a logical reaction )

You will have to read this below from India :

Rafale wins by far on both "Life Cycle Cost" of the fleet over its 40 years predicted lifetime and "acquisition" price !

Ah, OK, as long as it is just distorted news in the British media I can ignore this, this, this, this and this then. Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Of course we all know military sales are driven by many, many factors, including in this case, international civilian nuclear commerce...
I did enjoy this conclusion in Polaris (A Takshashila Institution Blog on International Politics and Security)

On a more optimistic note, we must remember that neither the Eurofighter nor the Rafale are bad planes.

And hopefully everyone will also be able to fly this new Rafale by the end of the month.
Yes well I do hope this is not contingent on the Indian Rafale deal being finally, terminally, totally, irrevocably, closed!

VPA Rafale Team "Panel" developper is actually updating the entire VC 3D cockpit
to make it a little bit "lighter" on FPS.

A very good idea !

:applause: Soon. Very soon. :applause:

I was sent an advance copy last night after I had gone to bed. Good thing I didn't see it until this morning or I would have been flying all night. I sent back a couple comments about the installer that will hopefully be sorted before they put it on the ftp somewhere. I don't know that it will reduce the 43MB download but it will reduce the installed size by 116MB -- some redundant folders basically. I also gave the some tips for ATC communications. If they don't make it into the download I'll post them here.

I didn't spot any Dassault Aviation logos on the aircraft that aren't there in real life so thankful for that. Including the logos was a possible issue during this whole process of gaining authorization from Dassault Aviation. They are on the documentation and the installer.

Depending on whether you want cold (clicking all the buttons in sequence) or hot (CTRL+E) engine starts this is controlled by the panel.cfg file you use. Illustrated instructions are included for this. Same goes for US or EU units on the gauges although there is a button to switch between those once you have things up and running. But the appropriate panel.cfg change will put you how you want to be from the startup.

Textures are all DXT1 which is ok. They are holding up well but it is causing the blue center dot of the French insignia to be red from a distance, at least on my system. It looks ok in the image below though.

There are still some sound issues to be worked out but I wouldn't hold it up for that. We're all used to patches.

She flies really well as one would expect after Dassault Aviation tested it. A nice female voice tells you if you are getting into trouble. The aircraft is terribly sophisticated and much of that is included in the cockpit systems here. You will definitely need to read the manual on this one to fully appreciate all the work that has gone into it.
