CAF CF-104 104763, painted as a special to commemorate the end of Starfighter operations with No. 417 Sqdn in 1982. In v5.1, modified for PBR, on my lovely new rig with most sliders full right!
Yes it is. A great airplane, even better now it's a realistic price.
I've been experimenting with PBR since v4.5 was released. I use MCX to modify models to accept PBR textures. Initially it was a way to get rid of the (to me) unsightly blue canopy glass on port-over models, and to get a more realistic metallic appearance for natural metal skins. To be honest, the latter is a disappointment for me. The SSW Starfighter isn't too bad and I've had decent results with the Airplane Factory/A2A P-51H and the FR B-24J. But when I saw what Bomber_12th has managed with his Mitchell in FSX I thought WTF, I'm wasting my time!!
PBR works best with paint IMHO; realistic glossiness is what it does best, and then only in P3Dv5.1, as evidenced above and elsewhere in this thread.
P-51H, 197th FS Arizona ANG. Called the Copperheads, they painted the spinner and tips in copper paint. Shows up nicely in PBR but metal's a bit dull in this one.
Stores are from the Warbirdsim Mustang collection, hard points corrected.
