Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

I may have picked up the Caravan minutes after it went live, but after rediscovering this beauty, I'm falling in love all over. My only complaint is that it's not as easy to keep the cabin temp steady like it is with the turboprops. But I guess that's the nature of gasoline combustion heaters.

Doing something a little different today! I don't fly many contemporary military aircraft in MSFS,for several reasons. Mostly because my interest is geared towards WWII era aviation but I was also blessed to grow up in a family with a lot of connections in the aviation community and, having learned to fly as soon as I could reach the rudder pedals, I've flown or flown in a handful of WWII-era and similar high performance aircraft ( SNJ, P-51D, C-47, BT-13, A-1, PT-17, etc.). I feel like I have something to compare it to when I fly similar models in MSFS. So, it's rare that I venture much into the modern jet age.

The Deimos MiG-29 has been sitting in my hangar (as well as both SU-27s, MiG-25, and a few others), all of them virtual hanger queens. I'm changing that this weekend. I spent a few hours flying the Fulcrum out of an airbase in India and, honestly, she's a doll baby. I love seeing 400+ knots at cruise with the throttle way back! Only issue, my approaches and landings need ALOT of work. No butter smooth touchdowns yet - not even close. I can't seem to make a stabilized approach with her. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it before going on to the GKS MiG-25.

I know, I know, I'm all over the effin' place ya'll. I'm having fun though!

The year is 1981 - somewhere over western Iraq, twenty minutes after scrambling out of H3. We're keeping our eyes peeled and heads on a swivel for any intruding Iranian F-4s, F-5s, or the big turkeys - the F-14s!

What a breathtaking flight in the GKS MiG-25 yesterday. I took off out of Al Assad Air Base, Iraq, and climbed to about 45,000 ft., pushing just through Mach 1 to the southeast of Baghdad. After about 50 miles, I turned back to the northwest, reversing course almost exactly. I set a shallow climb, remaining in full burner to reach an all-time personal altitude record in MSFS of 78,000 ft. Indicated mach peaked out at 2.85, reading 1,350 knots across the ground. Blistering speeds! This plane is an absolute joy to fly! I love how the screenshot actually captured the curvature of the earth while I was at the flight's apogee, 78,000 feet above Al Assad AB!
