Screenshots!

Yes, that's exactly the way I intended the AK version to look. The Aluminum is bare, but naturally tarnished, not brand new museum polished aluminum. It does have the environmental mirror reflections, but they are subtle.

Real world example pictures are in post#137. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?101037-MiG-15-Fagot/page6

There are two lines in d3d8.ini that can be set to change the look as well. My defaults are set to limit the mirror finish effect.

; Tweaks strength of environment reflection. 0 - off. 1 minimum, 9 maximum.
EnvReflection=5

; Tweak sharpness of sun and environment reflections. 1 dullest, 9 sharpest.
Glossiness=1

Raising both of these values will push the look more toward what I think you're looking for. Additionally you could lighten the grey shades of the _s.dds and _r.dds files for more of a mirror effect.

With and Without Photoflash Bomb Effect

Photoflash%20Effect_zpsgby6i997.jpg

In the original you can see 5 vehicles on the road, as well as 5 Mosquitos and 3 Spitfires on the airfield with the flash. After the flash you can barely make out two vehicles on the road with headlights showing, and one unidentifiable airplane parked in front of the Large Hanger

Like it. However unless a very large scale pic I always find it hard to see anything in the non illuminated night; probably just as it should be. As I'm not at home for another 3 weeks and in any case have other issues setting up my CFS3 in win 10, I take it the really good dark night effect is a result of Ankor's shaders. I remember Daniel was trying to sort out good night (no moon) settings and had his own settings. BTW just downloaded yr 2 zips and look forward to trying them out on Mossies and Lancs when I get sorted.

I have better luck seeing the night images if I can blank off the surrounding white screen, and let my eyes adjust a little.

This thread has gotten pushed too far down, time to bring it back up. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what about a video? I've not done one before and this one is nothing fancy, just a late 1940 furball over SE England.

Good eye on the 109s. I need to revise the effect after watching some videos, but that is exactly what is going on. The Spitfire pit is from the Spitfire VIII package, so it isn't at all correct, but I was just trying out the fit, which is really pretty good. I enjoyed recording the dogfight a lot, even though it was really no more involved than making a couple clicks. It's gotten me thinking, would anyone enjoy an informational thread consisting of text and some videos where I explain the workings of different systems we have on our aircraft with periodic updates covering different topics?

Very good video and good dogfighting skills!

That Spitfire looks like one of the skins I did for the Just Flight version years ago. Another thing I ought to update!
