• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

What's the story on BQ-S? Is it an HF.IX, or a recce model?

Neither - it's actually an F.MkIX with a Merlin 63, taken on charge on 5th June 1943. At this point the LF.MkIX had been in production for some 3 months or so, but was still not the main production model. The HF.MkIX was not yet in production.

This aircraft was used as a high altitude interceptor, despite the fact that it did not have the extended wingtips.

No Andy nothing special, it's Austria. Take off from Wels, do a 360, head south, you'll see the mountains in the distance. Fly for about 15-20 mins depending on what you are flying, you need to clear all the rocky stuff and then you will see this scenery. I just stayed on a south coarse.
I had 3/8 scattered clouds, autumn, afternoon. It's not all good looking, still get things in places they shouldn't be, but still interesting to fly over!:biggrin-new:
