  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION - ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ

Due to an increase in the number of new members who are trying to systematically download our entire Resource Library (one new member yesterday tried to download 3,000+ files AT ONCE!) we are being forced to implement some changes regarding who can download what, how many files at a time and at what speed. As the forums and Resource Library share the same bandwidth when the Library gets overloaded with demand like that the forums fall over, as we have all seen recently. It's sad that greed has forced our hand in this way but we must do something for the benefit of all our legitimate members (many of whom paid money for the upkeep of the site) and to prevent the files stored here being used for nefarious purposes. Many of our uploads have specific conditions tied to them that forbid uploading to any other site or deny uploading to any site that has a 'paywall' (i.e. a pay to download policy). Due to the number of mass download attempts recently we can only assume that somebody, somewhere, is attempting to stock up a new file library with our files and we owe it to our up-loaders to protect their files and intellectual property especially as many (like my own LDR Development projects) are made available at SOH only and are specified as such in the 'read me' files.

The forums and Resource Library will be taken offline as of 13:00 EDT with the forums coming back online shortly after without the resources library while we work on setting up permissions on the new Library module.

We hope our members understand why we need to do this and will bear with us while we implement the changes.

    Thanks in anticipation, SOH ADMINISTRATION

Downloads are now active. You may proceed with downloading as desired

The download limits are a work in progress. Some settings are likely to need tweaking in the coming days.

Section F8 F-86 revisited

l'iguane

SOH-CM-2024
Hi fellows,

SF8 F-86 has been in my paintshop for a while, with slow progress

Here are a few WIP screens.
VC has been recolored using SF8 original textures as a basis.

I have in mind a few camo schemes - South American & Asian
This one is a MAP pre-delivery to Tunisia in early 70s as it was at Boeing facility after overhaul.

More to come !

If you wanted to include the odd RAF scheme, that would be awesome.
I know, I know, its the wrong 86. but i can wish cant i :)

When painting or if painting ANG or USAFE types, would you consider painting generic squadron equivalents for John young’s ai F-86 to go with the flyables? I love to create sceneries for ai traffic of the Cold War and have a flyable version to go along with it.

Thank you l'iguane! When I was looking at some old threads I realised you already started this project in 2015 while you were working in Mr Ito's F-86!

Cheers,
Huub

Hi Huub,

Back in time, Mr Ito's F-86D rework was a rough & simple texture adaptation from Jan Visser work to the F-86D.
This is a brand new project, I believe I already spent more time on this than I did with Kazunori old F-86D.

I'm thinking of some ANG liveries, although pictures & info are a bit sparse. I have a special taste for the Minutemen aerobatic team's scheme (Colorado ANG)
There are also plenty of "painted" South American & Asian Sabre I would like to cover.

Cheers

Very nice, thank you. with so many Korean war scheme's in the library, it would be good to see some ANG or European/Stateside units represented

I totally agree with Ian especially USAFE and European paints to match a lot of the sceneries Ian and I have done that have ai but no user flyable version. However it does seem you already have a decent backlog of your own preferences so understand this may be wishful thinking 🤔

Hi Al & Ian,

Your thoughts are welcome, any ideas of precise ANG & USAFE squadron/scheme you would like to see ?
Most of them can be recreated with a generic bare metal plus markings.

For my part, I would welcome any updates that covered demonstration teams of various countries or organisations. Again, thanks for all your work in helping to keep FS9 alive and well . . .

Perhaps you would even consider doing some Sabre repains for a fictional version of the Red Arrows or Yellowjacks . . .

Hi L'iguane, dont usually do requests, but Duckie did a 512th FBS for the Milviz 86 for FSX, Manston is my local airfield and these 86's where station'd there in the 50's, and i'd love to see it represented in the FS8 model. Ive included a link to give you an idea, but i have color profiles of other Manston based 86's if you like. The 512th moved to Soesterberg and eventually became the "Wolfhounds" There is a repaint out there for the fs8 model but would look nice on your new skin's. Some other Manston based 86's eventually ended up at some of the airfields covered by AVP.
A paint kit is probably to much to ask, but maybe you could upload a bare metal version so we can have a go at adding our own marking's

Sorry for rabbiting on, but it seem'd to good an opportunity to miss :)

Hello Ian, Rohan

I'll consider this one when my template are finished. I'll probably release them "as is" when completed so they can be used for repainting.

As for what-if or fictional liveries, maybe yes.

Some more progress

Cheers
L'iguane
