Shrike F-86F

Can anyone find the difference from the picture in Post #20 and this picture?

Scratch another item off the, "to do list."

Hollister56, there’s no FS2024 version of the jet, so the 2020 repaints all work under both sims. If you have a 2020 repaint that's not showing up, running the layout.json through msfslayoutgenerator.exe usually does the trick.

Thanks for sharing the gear door tweak!

It's a nicer day? :) Spill the beans, couldn't find it looking at the pics side-by-side.

I was working today on cleaning up the gear doors, they sure were grungy, actually the whole airplane is that way. I think it's really cool the gear doors are now hanging down when you spawn to an airport. Just like a real Sabre. Denny did you get it to work? I can get most repaints to work, especially using Flak9's converter! I actually did this repaint and it us up on Flightsim.to.

Just a heads up, if anyone is trying to install this excellent livery from "Fischl" off of Flightsim.to, be aware that the texture folder
is named texture. F-86E Four Kings. Notice the space between the period and the letter F. It took a long time to find this error, so I though I would pass it along.

How do you make the chocks visible - MSFS2024?

I have the PB on but no chocks showing f86 with huffer.jpg

Normally with other aircraft in cockpit view the lower left corner will show speed of aircraft, not seeing this in this bird. FYI Blackbird Sim sells this for $20 and I think it is only for FS20.

My earliest memories of the F86 was probably the movie, "The Last Chase" with Lee Majors and Burgess Meredith. I'll have to watch it again sometime just for the nostalgia, lol.

My earliest memory of the Sabre is from riding past the Utah Air National Guard post in Draper, Utah as a kid. It was pretty near my house so we drove past it often and I would stare out the window at their Gate Guardian. Loved the look of it then. Love the look of it now.

I thought about doing that Utah ANG livery for the sim version, but I don't really ever fly anything without my custom fictional colors. So, I went with this instead:

Look at that beautiful night cockpit lighting! It was a bit of a mess and it took several hours with Claude to finally get it to this state, and I would estimate around 6 hours, but we got there in the end. These lights are controlled by the Console and Panel rheostat rotary knob.

In the picture above the lights are at the dimmer value and the lights will go much brighter if you like. Notice the left console has all the letters illuminated such as the throttle quadrant.

I attached a PDF discribing mods that were made and a zip file of the modified files.
So do all your attachments go directly to community folder or to the base F86 folder and theses files replace what is already there?

These are for the payware Shrike F-86. If you are talking about the freeware conversion on Flightsim.to these will not work on that version.
Which one do you have?

Freeware version....So I will have to hunt and remove those fixes. So for $20 you get a version that will still need fixes anyway?
It seemed a bit nebulous as to what version of the F-86 your fixes were for and I assumed the freeware is what needed help and the
payware would of been in better shape and not need this stuff.

GE, how do you fly the conversion with nothing clickable in the cockpit?

I flew it too when it first came out as it was the only F-86 for MSFS at that time, but as soon as Shrike released their version I bought it. The title of this Post says Shrike F-86 so there shouldn't be too much confusion what aircraft these mods are for. Do yourself a favor and just delete the conversion out of your Community folder and install the Shrike F-86 in it's place. It's a great airplane for the cost, it's just a shame Milviz/Blackbird gave this to Shrike who flat out said it's going to be cheaper with less bells and whistles, and they were true to their word. I wish Blackbird wouldn't have done that and gave the F-86 the developement priority they gave their beautifully functional Corsair and sold it for the price they charged for the Corsair.

The beauty of a release is in the finer details and system functionality and modeling. I've been adding to that with several mods that are making the Shrike F-86 a more enjoyable airplane, at least for me. One big one was adding a fully functional autopilot system, which is really nice on long cross-country flights. I have a few more coming soon!

This mod looks at the speed brakes and the logic behind it. The speed brake is operated by the engine driven Utility hydraulic pump, which only produces pressure if the engine is turning/running. The airplane now spawns into position with them in the open position, just like the gear doors as per the checklist. The speed brake will not function/operate without the Utility system being pressurized. Upon shutdown as the Utility system pressure bleeds down the speed brakes will extend all by themselves. Very realistic like the real jet!
