SOH Team Project - Grumman Tracker, Trader, Tracer

Hi Dave. I will definitely do a paint kit once I get the textures done for the initial release. My working texture files tend to become very large (30 to 40 mb each with some as large as 70mb) and I don't tend to do a lot of house keeping until all the dust has settled. But I will get cranking on it as soon as I have submitted the original textures to Milton.

Steve

Sounds good! I like working with your paintkits. They're always easy to use and well detailed. Thanks!

Dave

Sent Milton an FDE for the EC-1A, though it's an FSX one, will probably get him one evaluated in FS9 sometime today.

Cheers: Tom

Hi Milton and Steve,

can you help me?

I couldn't figure out where the nose tip map is in the textures:

Can you tell me where to find it? I wanted to experiment a bit with different colours of the tip.

Thanks and have a nice weekend all!
Sascha

Sasha,

On the fuse2.bmp as indicated. Also attaching a 2048 in case it is not showing on yours.

Thanks very much Maarten and gribouil. Turning my attention now to the Dutch variant, circa 1962. You guys know I don't work as fast as that young speedster Matt (go Matt!), but I'll post up some WIP screenies when I get to that point in a day or 2. :running:

:salute:

All the superlatives are well deserved. One awesome product after another. :applause: :medals:

Tip of the hat right back at you, Sir, for a wonderful model series and some outstanding mapping making decorating these beauties that much more enjoyable! :salute: :salute:

The Dutch are coming!

OK... first look at a little new paint new paint. I said a "little" new paint! :icon_lol: Pay no attention to the missteps.

Had to re-do the RESCUE arrows and settle on an arrangement for them (finally found a couple of good photos for positioning). Anyway, way early but thought I'd give a look. Maybe a full coat of paint by the weekend and another look.

WOW Steve! That is jawdroppingly awesome!!!:jawdrop::jump::jawdrop::jump::applause::applause::applause:
(whispering: are you going to make both a NAS Valkenburg (V) and HMs Karel Doorman (D) version? Just inquisitive ;))

Thank you so much! :medals::medals:

Cheers,
Maarten:guinness:

patience young padawan :icon_lol: speed soon comes, remember "The Force will be with you.... Always", the key to speed is knowing the tool settings, the intricacies of the mapping and for me, it also helps to have my most used rivet styles and wear etc... as PSD's, ie. a base 'metal overlay', this PSD in particular is a 30% transparency layer that when overlaid adds a base 'wear' layer, drop me an e-mail and i'll fire it over to you :salute:

she's looking great pal, remember it isn't the spped of your work that's the killer... it's the sudden stop at the end... this sudden stop to us Repainters/Texture artists (Remember there is a difference, repainters take existing work and paint over that, texture artists work from a wireframe from the beginning...) is when we finish something and we end up chewing possibilities over...

great work, keep it up :ernae:

Thanks very much, everyone, for the positive feedback.

I'm working to have 3 texture sets for the release of the -1; USN gray/white, USN glossy sea blue, and RNNAS. After that I will probably put out a couple more repaints.

Maarten, the RNNAS I'm working now is a "V" for Valkenburg. It won't be that much more to do a "D" as a repaint.

Mvg3d, I'll take a look at the Italian model and and see what I can do, no promises, but I'll look at it for a possible post release repaint.

Matt, great tips, and I would definately like to take a look a your base metal overlay texture, thanks for the offer (pm e-mail later). :salute:

I employee many of these time savers as well, such as a base "grime" PSD with varying shades of black, yellow and brown than can be deployed at varying levels of transparency. Ahhhh yes, rivets, have set up various scales of "dotted lines" with rounded edges for use with pen tool to draw rivets. Streaks of oil and grime are collected and added as separate layers to their own PSD for future use.

Still learning and looking for all the tips and time savers I can find. :running:

Matt, that is SO true!
