Solomons ETO Updates for 2009

Dear Fellow CFS 3 Enthusiasts,

In the future we hope to see many individuals and groups creating ADD Ons and supplements for the ETO Expansion. Some of these add ons may be coordinated and combined with the Solomons ETO Group for updates and uploads. Some ETO ADD Ons will be done by other Individuals and Groups without coordination with the Solomons ETO Group. This will be similar to what has occurred with CFS 3 over the years with various additions.

Updates by the Solomons ETO Group will be clearly identified and loaded on the Aussie Server. These updates will always have been tested for full compatibility with previous work done by our group. All of our aircraft and missions will be fully supported in our installs with the appropriate guns, weapons and shared folders. All necessary effects, facilities, ships and vehicles used in our missions will always be contained in our installs, no external items will be needed.

It will be up to the players to choose the ADD Ons they wish to install and what changes it will make to their game. In some cases a Player may want to create multiple installs as more and more add ons become available and the list of aircraft grows.

The Solomons ETO Group cannot assume the responsibility for add ons developed outside our group and their impact on your install. In the future it is possible that third party add ons could compromise your existing Solomons ETO Group Global Layer. In order to keep our stuff crisp we will always include our latest GLs and QCs.

ETO was designed to be an "Open Structure" to allow anyone who wants to, to build supplements for it. We welcome any and all additions to ETO and hope everyone enjoys the open climate to create items for it.

There are currently somewhere around 48 individuals participating in the ETO effort and we hope that list continues to grow. It is possible that you could see additions developed by any one of these individuals associated with the greater ETO membership independent of our group. There is no ETO Franchise or restrictions on the development of addons.

We are very excited about the future of CFS3, ETO and are looking forward to the release of our March update. The list of additions for it is growing every day.

Best Regards

The Solomons ETO Group

Well you've put up this post at 3 times in the last couple of weeks and got no reply.Maybe that should tell you something "NO JAPANESE PLANES ARE IN DEVELOPMENT FOR PTO".Besides alot of the planes needed in the Solomons area are there or a substitute for it..Most of the development is scenery ,effects and missions. The Team can only do so much at a time and most of the development is toward the ETO right now.

Have you taken a look into this Website!

Take a look into this Website and tell me what you think about it!

Perhaps you could make us some Japanese planes for us in future. Its all up to you but this Sims does have a great shortage of this type of planes. They are a ton of fun to fly with it you will only make this Sim better, more diverse and better in representing World war two its totality CFS3 style!:jump:

This is only a opinion

You can learn to make these planes. I takes time, time, and yes more time. get gmax and start. :friday:

Well that is not completely true. I have a Ki43 and Ki46 III in the virtual digital hanger. Both are fairly well along in development. As with life in general just too much to do. I need to quit my day job and just make these toys ....:amen:

The statement made by miami was for the Solomons Group which is not doing new Japanese planes.

I knew about the planes you were working on.

I do not mean to offend anyone with my post. It can be done by those who have the talent to build AC. It could be done slowly. It will only make this Sim a lot more appealing for those of us who line to fly in different Theaters and not just in the ETO.

As of this momment we can only fly in the Pacific as whole in Il46 and CFS2. I just want to open up our Horizon and our options for the benefit of the community as whole!!

I think the point is that there is only so much the SolomonsETO team can do and at the moment they are concentrating on the foundation of a much improved sim. The a/c, vehicles, etc. which would fit into these installs are really something that other people who specialise in that aspect of the sim can then add on to that foundation. Any SolomonsETO install in fact limits the number of a/c included, with the intention that they can be developed and tested later by other designers if they wish. Unfortunately it is probable that alot of good a/c modlers have moved to doing FSX a/c.

Hi Miamieagle,

You may already know about these planes, but I'll let you know again just in case you dont.

Aerosim have a payware addon set for CFS3 that includes around 11 differant army and airforce fighters for Japan. I have these planes myself and they add heaps to the PTO environment.

as James says above I think a lot of modellers are moving on from CFS3. we still have a couple who tirelessly put out new models, but their time is limited and the number of craft needed great.

best regards Rob.

Let's see we already have the Zeke, Val, Oscar, Frank, George, Shusui, Betty, Kate, Rufe, Tabby, Ruth, and Claude. There's also a Pete ground object, but it's not flyable.

If you're not up to 3D modeling, you could always retexture some of the existing models into Japanese versions. The KI-61 was called the Tony because initially it was thought to be a copy of the G55. The Karyu (not the Kikka) was a lookalike for the ME-262.

A bit of a further stretch, but I've also made look alike textures for the Fred, Willow, Lorna, Lilly, Sally, Joan and Eilene by using other countries planes.

All you have to, is want to...

I highly recommend the Japanese Army fighter pack and zero,as Rob mentioned,Well worth the price. Just want to say thank you to all who is and had a roll in the PTO and ETO . Looks like 2009 will be another great year for us CFS3 nuts.

Ok Guys hang on because I am going to show you some of the new aircraft that will be in the update. There are more and several aircraft feature new cockpits. We are trying to include as many aircraft as possible but not overload your player aircraft list with too many of the same type of aircraft with different paint.

Steve

Carrier Aircraft

You will see quite a few US and Royal Navy Carrier aircraft in the March update. You will also see several aircraft for the Italian Theatre included.

Missing in this group of photos are the French aircraft that are being put together by John and Nigel. There are also some US C-47s as well that are not shown yet.

Hi Guys,

some more pictures.

I have attached a couple here that Steve has already shown above, some have updated skins, and posting a liitle about the plane itself.

1. Tarpon FAA has a new skin by Brian Hill.

2. Me109e Bomber version Displaying the wasp markings of the famous Waspen-Geschwader (Zerstorergeschwader 1) the Bf109E-4/B fighter bomber supplemented the Bf110 in the ground-attack role and then provided top cover after dropping its bombs. Skin by Bravo4

3. Aircobra as used by RAF, Airacobra Mk 1
serial AH595, UF-M of 601 Squadron RAF, Duxford 1941
P-39D-1 AiraCobra Mk 1 Built for the RAF, and fitted with a 20 mm cannon in stead of the 37 mm one. 519 built and .303 MG in the wing replacing the 30 cal.
In 1940, the British were desperate for combat aircraft and were willing to consider just about anything that had wings, irrespective of how poor its performance might be. Consequently, when Bell submitted specifications to the British Direct Purchase Commission for a fighter with a top speed of 400 mph, a ceiling of 36,000 feet, and a range of 1000 miles, the Commission literally salivated on the spot and ordered 675 Bell Model 14s sight unseen on April 13, 1940. Unfortunately, Bell's glossy advertising brochures did not distinguish between the performance of a lightly-loaded, unarmed, highly-polished experimental prototype and a production fighter heavily-loaded with military equipment and armament, and the British were to rue the day that they ever looked at an Airacobra. I will add more below of some of the other types coming into game.

The idea is to try and give as many player types that represent a broad cross section of available types during the war. in some cases there may be two or three of the same type of plane, but there weapons etc have been changed to reflect operational changes as the war went on. mostly though there will be one example of each type in the ETO to minimise the amount of scrolling through aircraft selection windows whilst trying to pick the plane of choice.

so you wont see 40 me109s listed, however the individual player of course can add as many planes as they desire.

regards Rob.
