Tailwind Released!

What will I do with these Silk(s)? Pardon my lack of knowledge....

Eli :running:

ChaCha,

You will find a little installation note in there telling you how. Basically, just drag and drop the new 'aircraft.cfg' file and Tailwind.air file into each aircraft folder of matching names. They are seperated by folders for each sim, such as FSX, which has the Tailwind W8, and Tailwind W10, and FS2004 folder which has the same folders in it as well. You cannot use the FSX versions with the FS2004 series, or vice versa. They are matched for each plane, in each sim. All four sets are provided.

:d

Ask if you have any more questions, I'll be glad to walk you through it.

Bill,

Holding the tail down does seem to help. I also tried the rudder effectiveness=1.0. Then, I found this and it made me go "hhmmm". I'm not aircraft.cfg "expert" by any means, but is this correct? It's right above the [Flight Tuning] section:

empty_weight_roll_MOI=0.000000
empty_weight_pitch_MOI=0.000000
empty_weight_yaw_MOI=0.000000
empty_weight_coupled_MOI=0.000000
;Moments of Inertia
empty_weight_pitch_MOI = 313.8
empty_weight_roll_MOI = 313.9
empty_weight_yaw_MOI = 642.2
empty_weight_coupled_MOI = 0.0

So, in the W10, I tried changing ";Moments of Inertia" to [Moments of Inertia]. That still left the apparent duplicate issue. I think I screwed up in a way because the airplane now spins around its vertical axis and shakes a lot - like its in a medium wind. I've seen that in a couple other aircraft.

In the W8, I left all that alone but the spinning is still there.

I'm going to re-install.

Hey Glenn,

Man, thats really wild. None of my own planes have zero'd out MOI's. But, I do have that character in front of 'Moments of Inertia'. Thanks for the heads up. I dont think that will cause any issues, but it will be cleaned up. The Sim only reads actual strings and not the titles of sections.

Were you just experimenting with a zero'd out MOI version by chance? Delete the zero'd out MOI's and it will act normal again. MOI's are pretty difficult at times. Too lite, and your plane shivvers. Too heavy and your plane shakes and rocks and flips around.

Bill

Bill,

You are too fast!! I did a re-install from the red icon. The zeroed out MOIS aren't there - I have no idea where they came from. Sorry for the false alarm.. :173go1:

Bill, I believe you have done it sir!

I just reinstalled everything to v2, included the new air files, and they worked like a charm with my realism settings still set to 50%. OK....so I cranked them back to full, and this baby is still stable.

You are the man.

I don't drink, but I'll give ya one of these anyway...:ernae:

Awesome awesome!

Happy flying. Now we can get in some flying time.

Bill,

I agree - smoothe as silk. I'll shut up now except to say - well done and I think the triple 7 paint scheme is a real keeper - it's my default for now.

Glenn

Oh man...I forgot about those paints....:running:

Sheesh, it's almost 11:00 and all I've gotten done is work, bills, invoicing, etc etc.. My return to the Tailwinf may have to wait til tomorrow night.

Sweet paint Bob:applause: I'm also waiting for that dirty Alaskan hopper Bill

.

And I tried the latest airfiles and it's smooth as silk now. Stays straight with the little help of differential brakes. Thanks!:medals:

Thanks Robert for the paint! Awesome work Sir!

Off to check it out in a short while.

Looks awesome with the Tailwind marque on the door and the antique vanilla white color. The paint appears to even have some texture to it like proper fabric covering.

The original was more a light blue, gonna try it in different shades now. :) Thanks Bill. :ernae:

Perhaps a stupid question (I hope not!): what is V2 ?
The only version available on the site is V1.2...
