Hey guys,
Roger that. Man, thats really odd. It flies great for me. If she gets a bit sideways, I can usually pull her back with rudder and also by taking the brakes with rudder engaged.
I know what you mean about that similarity with the Viking. I would sure love to find out how to correct that.
What I feel you guys need is vertical stabilizer effect (like a dart has). If I could find out where that setting is, that could fix it for you guys. I went through today and tuned all settings in the air config file in the Yaw section and only the rudder setting helped, and if I overdid it, man it went crazy. So I feel that is not the setting it needs to increase Yaw dynamic stability (with speed).

sorry to say but mine is very very hard to take off as well. I have all my realism settings on high and I am using your new airfiles and cfgs. As soon as I pass about 1400 rpm it veers off to the right and is pretty much not correctable. She really is a b**** to get off the ground

Man, sounds like a totally different plane from mine. I have been flying it all evening and had great takeoffs and everything. Only thing I dont like is when a side gust of wind hits it and she rolls a bit.

I just tried something simple. Per the comments above, and as I have become accustomed to setting my aircraft realism settings/sensitivities on 'high', (sliders full right as requested by RealAir, as I use their aircraft often), I decided to fire-up FSX and reduce all my realism settings to mid-point. 'Wala', I was able to take-off just fine.
I have to wonder if that is why some of us are having problems, while others are not.
What are yours set to?
But.....these 'high' realism settings do not effect most my other aircraft as adversely as the Tailwind (not even close). That said, if it is simply a matter of reducing these settings before flying the Tailwind, I could probably deal with that. As long as I remember before getting lined-up

...Oh yea, I use CH yoke and pedals and calibrate them with FSUIPC, but I do not think this is either a calibration or 'device' issue, or can be 'corrected' by adjusted either.

If it helps, the problems I encountered were with max realism too. It is almost like driving a rear wheel car on ice, you correct the swing normally with gentle, but ever increasing rudder (I tried toe brakes too, but that made it worse), then she suddenly seems to swing back the other way. This time the rudder sends her skidding at 45 degrees to the RW and you have lost it

It seems like rudder is not sufficient when it is out of the airflow (could be true to life), then when in the airflow it seems to have a terrible time lag. I did notice that the controls were very sluggish in the air too, which is not what I would expect.
I have not come across anything like this in FSX, but a few aircraft in FS9, such as the Spitfire 16 were verging on the impossible. Bill, how many beta testers (with varying set ups) tested her?

Yep, on the general slider, I'm all the way right, but I do have P-Factor and Torque toned down a bit. I'll try pulling the general slider back a bit in the morning.
EMatheson, I have tried differential brakes, a lot. Full rudder and full brake on the same side does not help.

This is wild. Toe brakes work perfect for me as well, when the tail wheel is off the ground.
I do not have full realism settings on, but I tested it with full realism settings.
I had many people testing it.
Goes to show you, a plane in FSX will work differently on different computers..

Yea, I even reduced my PF and torque to 50%, and yes, I have a rocker switch to adjust trim on my CH yoke. But, some aircraft are actually easier to trim via the trim wheel within the VC; Carenado is a good example. I also use 'RealTrim', but it works better in some than others.
Would still like to know if most Tailwinds have an actual trim wheel.

I have issues flying the stock FS Extra 300 with settings to mininum. I couldnt imagine flying it at full realism settings. That thing is a real bear to fly.
Until I produce a gentler file for people that are having these issues, why not just set your realism settings to Minimum and get in some good flying time.

Each plane is usually radically different from the others. None hold a real 'common' cockpit order. Even panels vary throughout all finished Tailwinds. So, its just a basic, lite little Tailwind homebuilt, hold the ultra delux ice box, stylin backpack, and Subway sub-sandwich with extra mustard.

Rather liked this screen shot done while testing Orion's fireworks. She's a beauty Bill, I have no problem whatsoever and my realism is set at 50%.
Have you sorted out the repaint for the interior? Rode my bike Friday afternoon and guess what I saw on the tarmac at Danville Regional? A Tailwind! Don't recall seeing it there before, must drive by in the morning on the way to the bank. If it's still there, I'll get some photos. I have no problems getting on the tarmac, I know everyone at the airport and they all know me! I've been a fixture there since the late 1950s!
