Tailwind Released!

Bill, since the Tailwind does not have a separate alternator switch, you need to change the XML key_event in the SW_Master_Switch.xml to toggle both circuits at the same time...

Code:
[SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#800000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#800000]Click[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]>[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000](>K:TOGGLE_MASTER_BATTERY_ALTERNATOR) 1 ([/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]>[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]L:XMLSND7,enum)[/COLOR]
[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]</[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#800000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#800000]Click[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]>
[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE]

Of course, you will also need to change the XML script used by the model(s) as well to use this key_event...

FS9 - use the partname "switch_master_battery_alternator"

FSX - assign the name "switch_master_battery_alternator" to the part.

Many thanks Bill and all,

I'll get right on a fix and an update will be soon.

did you get the update from Bills site first
H
Yeh just got the updated purchase module, reinstalled and everything is good to go,retro and all.I thought using the original purchasing module would get the updated version but it didn't. Thanks Henry

I have found 2 issues in this model so far.

The first is that the panel light switch seems to be reversed. The light is off when the switch is in the "On" position. Here is a pic if you guys can see it in the dark.

The second issue is that on the Red and White W10 varient, the Cooler seems to be missing its texture. Here is a pic.

Hey Raptor,

Can I ask you to start a fresh flight, and dial in that plane, location, and time and boot up the flight? What was happening is FSX was not forcing textures to show when one booted up variant after variant. What FSX showed was the same plane over and over. With the new system, this should now work, forcing things to show.. But I am thinking that it 'might' be hiding that texture. If you could just check it one more time.

The reason I say this, is all the textures are in the package. Each folder has the texture config files. The cooler must be there.

Please let me know.

Bill

Well I just started up FSX and picked that varient with the same airport and time and weather and the cooler is still gone. Is there a Texture file I can copy over from another paint? This seems to be the only paint where the cooler does not show up. Also, did you find anything on the panel switch being reversed? I don't know if it will help but on the FSX preview window the cooler is black too.

As for the photo, that's all you man. I didn't edit that or anything. this really is an outstanding product :ernae:

Hey Raptor,

Roger that. The ice box is in 'Tailwind_Cabin2' texture.

I found a glitch in the panel lights. Sometimes you can somehow switch them backwards. I do not know if its a dawn thing or what, but when I was testing it myself, it would sometimes reverse for some reason. I could not pinpoint why it was doing this. I was about to change it and tested it a last time and again it was behaving properly.

I would entertain any ideas as to why its doing this. Its a standard switch with standard positions just like the rest.

For instance, start out in day mode and note where the panel light switch is.

I can only think its, well.... Dare I say it.. Ghost in the shell?

I expect its just me but I can't get the Tailwind off the ground without a major fight. If I advance the throttle slowly and use my Saitek rudder pedals to keep it on the centerline, it's not long before I'm in a serious left ground loop with full right rudder and right differential brakes. No amount of changes to rudder fixes anything, just makes it worse. The only thing that seems to work best is to just slam the throttle full forward (Saitek X-52) and hang on for the few seconds it takes to get off the ground. I've seen this in both release 1 and 1.1, both variants, with and without one notch of flaps. What the heck and I doing wrong? The controls are calibrated - no issues with any other tail dragger.

After its airborne, thru the landing and shut down, it's beautiful.

Had the same problem the first time I flew her but advancing the throttle very slowly corrected the problem for me. Get it moving first then slowly advance it.Still need some rudder but its very controllable.

It was a fine day at Port Macquarie (Australia) and definitely a perfect time to try out the new Tailwind. (Pic 1)

Got my clearance and took off, needing only half the runway. "Definitely light and fast, though an aerobatic it is not," I thought. (Pic 2)

"Mmmm... let's see what this baby can do..." Hopefully the terrified residents of the quiet town wouldn't come after me for this... :monkies: (Pic 3)

It was near noon after all and a few more loops later, I decided that I had enough fun and I should "park" this baby and have my lunch. Back on the ground, I reached behind, opened my lunch box, got a bottle, then as I grabbed my sandwich..... (Pic 4)

By the way, the spelling for "sandwich" needs to be checked. :d

I've noted the same thing while creating the 2d panels. You can easily re-synch the panel lights by pressing Shift+L on the keyboard.

Hey Guys,

Sorry to be away for so long. Some other things were going on this morning, and last night I ran out of gas and hit the sack early.

[MISSING ICE CHEST TEXTURE ISSUE; N239ST]
I have a texture file for N239ST in FSX that replaces the missing texture;
http://lionheartworld.net/23049587/Tailwind_Missing_Texture.zip
Just drop that in and you will have the ice chest back.

[LIGHT SWITCH FLIPPING ISSUE]
On the light switch, that indeed is the case, a swapping animation for some odd reason. I feel I cannot fix this, that it is a FSX bug. The animation and code are correct for it.

[ALTERNATOR SWITCH ISSUE]
Concerning the Alternator issue. I was pondering this for an hour this morning. I can only think that this is a case of 'saving systems on one plane, switching to another, and the second plane doesnt have some switches that the first had' issue.

I know that some other planes will not have an Alternator switch as well, so they would suffer the same fate as this. The little Tailwind is a super simple little hombuilt that has low tech everything. There is no Alternator switch in this plane. I am going to opt to keep it as it is. I hope you guys arent mad at me about it. Its kind of like adding windshield wiper switches and other things because another plane has it, and I dont think that would be right. I apologise if that seems cold.

However, as stated, we can assign a key to the Alternator keyboard route. Something like Control-Shift-A for instance. Remember, happens only if you start up from a cold start in another plane that has an Alternator switch that you switch off and saving as a default flight.

[MISSING SOUND FOR 'MONTY PYTHON FLYING SANDWICH]
This is a real mystery. I looked in my plane, works. I looked in the assembly version folder, and the sound is there (for the compiler). Now several people say this is happening, so something is up. This could be the second 'birp' that has happened with my compiler. But its odd. I havent heard of this happening before, ever, but I do have problems chasing me often, lol.. So I am not totally suprised.

I will upload a replacement sound file for that in a moment.

I am just curious. If someone feels enthusiastic enough, would they want to run their installer into a TEMP folder on their desktop, and look in the Sound/LHC folder for sound SND14.WAV. That is the one that is the infamous, mustard bearing, flying sub high detail sound file complete with fluttering lettuce bits sound....

EDIT: Thanks guys for bringing these things to my attention. I wish these bugs wouldnt have been there to begin with. I had thought everything was working properly and correctly. I cant believe they got through. But, I can fix alot of this and soon. Thanks for working with me on it to get it right...
