The Just Flight Spit has appeared on the radar

Hello Matt, that looks like an early Rotol spinner. The machine is a 19 squadron Mk1Early converted to Mk1A standards. They replaced the canopy and a few other modes. Depending on supply, deHavilland or Rotol were both used.

Ours is a deHavilland.

Hi Bazzar

thats interesting... I knew there where at least two types of Spinner in addition to the one with the two blade prop but assumed had same profile. I have seen film of some Spit 1a's fitted with the very round profile Spinner that a lot of Hurricanes had (The FCS Hurricane 1 is a good example of the profile I'm talking about)...so a lot of variations me thinks. Any chance you could include a model with the Early Rotol Spinner (as in the photo) as that would lend itself to some nice repaints?

Matt

We'll have a look but I'm not going to promise. It means another model which JF may not want to make installers for.

Personally I like the bigger deHavilland, it makes the Spit more elegant in my opinion.

This one's in the Imperial War Museum. Unfortunately it is finished in later colours.

Personnal taste I guess but including the Rotol spinner would make it a very nice comprehensive package of Mark 1 Spits...

I'll have to twist Alex's arm...(like you I make models for JF but on the Trains side)

We have found the perfect compromise Matt. The early version of the deHavilland props had short, Rotol style spinners fitted to Spitfires at the beginning of the Battle of Britain. We have elected to remodel them as these. Hope this looks better for you now...

Yes indeed Bazzar thats terrific and on a 610 Squadron Spit 1a too... classic...thanks for taking the trouble to do this. I always preffered the short Spinner version of Spits prior to the MK 9. A lot of Mark Vs had them too (because many where converted form earlier models I believe).

Matt

Martyn,
What about the boxed set?

Ian.

can we have some more 109 images please!

I'll try and get some more for you tomorrow.

Martyn,
What about the boxed set?

I think the boxed set should be released at around the same time as the three downloads. The price will be £39.99, so effectively you are getting one aircraft for free.

Damn, thats an awesome looking 109 Martyn...Plan to invest in it I reckon!
