The Mallard is here, The Mallard is here!!

making slow progress on this one:

and a bit more on this one:

but still a few details to sort...

and otherwise very much enjoying this wonderful x-mas gift:

The model is WOW, the VC are stunning, but the milky glass in the cockpit in this lovely airplane is like a knife in the heart :sorrow:

earlier Chalks liveries

did Chalks ever fly radials?..or just the turbans?

Indeed, as Firekitten has noted, they did fly radials and there are a few pictures available on the net of some of these schemes...(paint, paint, paint...:adoration:)

Oh Please, Please, someone do this repaint! It would be stunning on the Mallard!

Is anyone hearing what sounds like multiple audio tracks in the external view? Seems a bit over-powering. Interior sounds are excellent.

It might be those bilge pumps running, turn them off and see if the sound goes away, it did for me. :adoration:

Be aware too that it appears that Doug Dawson's fuel dump gauge (which we are using to control the bilge pumps) needs to initialize on the first ever load of the aircraft so the bilge tanks will be full. On all subsequent loads our code works correctly whereby the tanks are emptied on aircraft load and will only take on water if you are floating.

As per the real aircraft the float tanks can only be used for ferry flights with no passengers. You will need to manually empty the float tanks (using the fuel and payload manager window) if you have passengers to get below max. take-off weight. We couldn't set the float tank volume in the aircraft.cfg file to zero otherwise you wouldn't be able to add/subtract fuel in the fuel and payload manager. If you are happy to never use the float tanks then by all means change the value in the aircraft.cfg file to zero and you shouldn't be overweight at start-up.

Do you mean

from this:

// THE FOLLOWING ARE BILGE TANKS - ALL UNUSABLE BY THE ENGINES - USED FOR WEIGHT SIMULATION
//center2= 12.25, 0.00, -4.75, 771, 771 // FORWARD 1 BILGE
//center3= 6.15, 0.00, -5.75, 1542, 1542 // FORWARD 2 BILGE
//external1= -5.75, 0.00, -5.10, 655, 655 // AFT 1 BILGE
//external2= -12.50, 0.00, -4.25, 218, 218 // AFT 2 BILGE
// END BILGE TANKS

to this?

center3= 0.00, // FORWARD 2 BILGE
external1= 0.00, // AFT 1 BILGE

I still get the dismiss message. If not the above, then what value are you talking about?

You do not need to make any changes to the config.

All Larry was saying is that the first time you load the aircraft it will be over weight because the Doug Dawsons fuel gauge needs to initialize.

The next time you load the plane all will be OK.

Since you have already loaded it multiple times ignore that post.

Easy fix by altering the texture glass file.

Deleted the Mallard glass dds and replaced it with the four from the Ryan Navion.
clean glass.:biggrin-new:

They sure did fly radials. In fact, they flew radials longer than they did turboprops. Old man Chalk started that airline in 1920 or so. They flew radials into the 80's that I know of, probably longer! When I used to fly tourists around Miami (70s), I had to be very cautious around Government Cut in Miami. That is the Chalks runway if you will. They were always in and out of there. That was uncontrolled airspace.

BP;)

Hint, hint. Oh it would be so wonderful.

as I'm reponsible for two of the three above, I might as well make it three, but patience, I'm moving first!
Meanwhile, try this one:

I would higly appreciate if you could point out which files to replace. They have kind of different names and sizes in the two addons, so I can imagine some have to be renamed.

I like others dislike milky glass. An important part of my flightsimming is about watching the scenery and thats better done with clear glass.

Besides that, thanks a million for making this wonderfull addon. You have really made a masterpiece.:applause:

1 issue: On my PC, the VC GPS will only zoom in and not out. The pop-up GPS works as it should.

Are you using the correct clickspots to zoom in and out in the vc gps? it does work fine on my end, left and right click iirc.

As for the glass.... milky? not sure what you mean, in p3d and fsx boxed on my end its clear and perfect... it doesn' have a reflection like some, but its 'slightly' off color from 'no glass' to show its there. It certainly doesn't appear milky to me. any screenshots? maybe its something we can fix.

Milky, maybe the wrong word. It was used by another guy taking up the issue in post 65 on page 3. So I just jumped in a continued the discussion about the glass textures.:kilroy:

The glass textures as they are makes the colors of the outside scenery look paler than when you look at the scenery from the spot view.
I like watching scenery when I fly and I make my own photoscenery, so its kind of disturbing when the VC glass textures make the outside world look worse.
I definately prefer clean glass and accept small parts with dirt because it gives the feeling that there is something. But these textures gives a feeling like all the glass is covered with something.

If necessary I can make some screenies later and I will also check your suggestions about the GPS. Thanks:encouragement:
