use of FSEarthTiles on FS2004 with Windows XP

Good evening friends
does someone use FSearthtiles or an equivalent program in FS2004 for scenery making?
The reason for this questions is:
1. The original fs9 ground scenery of the area where I live is total fantasy
2. I want to look it more realistic
3. I have FSEarthTiles but a) I do not know to use it
b) Google earth is no longer on my PC, I tried different downloads and installations
but failed, seems it does no longer agree with my old Windows XP computer
4. I would know which are the scenery tiles concerned by the area I live (Gavres at the east side of the Bay of Lorient)
I landed with my chopper in what I supose to be the center of the area the coordinates are:
N47* 41,47 / W2* 21,29
The area concerned is at the south La Pointe des Saisies / at the north the north west side of Port Louis
at the west la Tourelle des Trois Pierres / at the east the region around Etel
5. a) So can some one tell me an alternative to get Google earth work on my old pc?
b) or can some one point me to an alternative solution?
c) or can and would some one make me the tiles to replace
I tried to contact the site of France VFR but never got an answer
If some one will have more informations I can try to make a photo copy of a Jeppesen navigation chart and marke the areaa concerned

Hi Michael
a friend & myself downloaded FSTiles for South Africa. The 2 of us did it, as it was too large an area and would take too long for done person to download.
We gave it up after we had downloaded a lot of tiles.
We found that there was big differences in the colour of the tiles and all coastlines had to be remapped.
Another issue was that many tiles had clouds overlayed, so we ended up with white blotches on the scenery.

Maybe others had better results than we got.

Hi Robin,
yes, South Africa is a bit taller than the area of my interest
from west to east it might just be 20km - a little bit less big LOL
Hmm I just have an idea: for the ones who uses the newer sims it would be interesting to see how this area (with Lorient)
would show on the newer sims

That site is starting to get funky, but I've used these BGL's for large amounts of land areas in FS2002 and FS9.
They aren't "real earth" but have a lot more detail than the stock BGLs. Coastlines will probably be a problem.

Definitely grab the Map prior to downloading so you'll know which file(s) you'll need. I just add the BGLs to my Addon Scenery/scenery folder.

BTW, have you tried MAIW? I know they did an ai package for the Rafale that features an aircraft carrier:

You might recognize the location of the carrier. I don't remember if they also included coast lines?

Scenery tiles for FS9 and earlier are tricky. I managed to find tiles for central Iowa and Maine, but its not like I can find my house. At least I can see my town.
