Warbirds Over Wanaka

As to repaints, jankees and others have done quite a few, see naki's list

Phew - that's quite disappointing. :crybaby:
Never figured out that there are so many Kiwi repaints already done before.
Even the MAAM Dakotas are obviously represented completely.

Hard to find anything to be rolled into the paint shack...

What about this one?

FS2004 RNZAF Douglas A-4K Skyhawk, 75 Sqn (textures only). A repaint of the payware RAZBAM A-4K package. It is painted as A-4K NZ6203 of No. 75 Sqn Royal New Zealand Air Froce, Ohakea AB 1976. Repaint by Jens-Ole Kjolberg.[/SIZE]

Ummmm ..I have to have a think about this as the Harvard, Mustang, Corsair, Tiger Moth, DC-3 etc have been really well covered but what spings to mind is the latest scheme for ZK-WAR - a Harvard and longtime NZ warbird and because the scheme is new it hasn't been done

http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/harvard-92-air-2-air/

Another one that springs to mind is Rick Piper's Chipmunk but most of the NZ schemes are very RAF orientated

http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/stearman-and-tiger-moth-air-2-air/

The above linked site should give some food for thought. I will let you know if it hasnt been done as my list as posted above is a bit out of date.

The Kittyhawk (especially for an important NZ fighter) hasn't been that well covered but I am not sure what model is the best

Personally I would love to see the Realair Citabria in one particular scheme. I know somebody who owns one of these and it is pictured here http://capphotography.ifp3.com/#/gallery/citabria-air-2-air/ . There is also a Decathlon in NZ but there isnt many picture sof it.

I would also love to see the Realair SF-260, in the one and only NZ scheme (yes one did live in NZ and I have a photo somewhere), and Carenado's 152 and 172 in NZ shemes but not sure whether that is your cup of tea.

If anything else pops into my mind I will let you know here! :salute:

Well, I think the FDG2 version won't be the worst to start with:

And here's a nice overview of potential candidates:

http://www.kiwiaircraftimages.com/khawk.html

I particulary like the markings of ZK-RMH / NZ3009, but ZK-CAG A29-448 with its different markings on each side would be fine either.

Does anyone know about blank templates or even a paint kit for the FDG2's Kittyhawks?

Naki, I don't own too many payware aircraft (although I learned here that payware is not always "evil"), so the Realair and Carenado civis aren't part of my fleet, sorry!

Let's see what I could do about the Kittyhawk...

Cheers,
Markus.

After browsing along a plethora of NZ repaints (and grabbing a bunch of them too...), I think I can add this one to the crowd, hoping it isn't released somewhere yet:

nz1015_1.jpg

Some parts still come from Jankees' 1091, and the cowling's checkers adjustment will take some hours of trying and cursing...

More to follow.

Cheers,
Markus.

:applause: Good one Markus!
That cowling is difficult, but you'll be rewarded!

There are 2 other possibles, one Naki referred to above, which I saw over the weekend, quite a handsome livery:

ZK-WAR.jpg

And then a paint I dashed out in a hurry - the font is wrong.
It's irritated me ever since:

What about this?

Hand-drawn via resized pic.

If you'd drop me your email addie via PM, I'll send the layer (PSP or PSD?) to you!

Cheers,
Markus.

Great video, thanks for sharing!
Is that you breathing in the background? :icon_lol:
Must have been quite exciting - wish I was there...

Charl, this video inspired me:

"The Mount" in the background shows it:
It's the Waipu Bay Railroad Bridge at Tauranga.

Note the blank blue textures on the Corsair. You know what this means...? :jump:

Cheers,
Markus.

Ooh I am such a rank amateur...
Every time I get to an airshow I quickly learn how to use the camcorder, all over again.
There is a setting which makes the mikes directional, I'm assuming they were pointing backward :d
And doing a 100m sprint to catch up with the action, well breathing through the ears makes this whistling noise...

I hope I do...:salute::salute::salute:

Always up for a challenge eh Markus :icon_lol:

What Corsair are you painting ?

Out of all the warbirds we had to push around on the flightline the Corsair is by far the heaviest.

Pete.

Well, I found this nice reference to start with:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled-(The-Old/Goodyear-FG-1D-Corsair/0573729/L/

The size of this pic is good enough to pick the decals off. I especially like this hopping mad Donald!
Always wanted to do a repaint with this duck on it...

I sincerely hope nobody minds me taking the Alpha Bleu Ciel F4U-7 Corsair, for its four-bladed prop won't fit too well to accurately depict NZ5648 (FG-1D), but this is such a nice-to-fly and well modeled aircraft, I couldn't resist!

Cheers,
Markus.

Bummer, boys!

The texture mapping won't allow the "Sea Blue / Intermediate Blue / White" repaint:
Cowl flaps textures are located one single file, so they will show up in one colour only:

nz5648_2.jpg

Even worse, some other parts, such as rocket racks, pitot tube, gun barrels share the same origin:

nz5648_1.jpg

Well, this older scheme of NZ5648 is fine too:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled-(The-Old/Goodyear-FG-1D-Corsair/1581194/L/

but I think she lost it before she went to New Zealand.

Would you have any problems using it for your NZ airshows? :icon_lol:

Cheers,
Markus.
