Wilco Citation X on sale! $13.48

Man... People werent kidding.

I have always heard that if a hard core FS guy trys a FMC, he becomes addicted....

Appears to be so, lol...

Man, if you can manage an FS FMC, you should be close to flying the real thing, I would think.

:d

Bill

My instrument instructor, is now a furloughed airline pilot.. according to him, the CapSim 757 FMC is pretty realistic, and more difficult to use than the real deal. I haven't let him play with this Citation yet..

I am getting better at handling this thing now. I am having trouble getting the thrust reversers working. Clicking on ARM, DEPLOY etc. does not seem to work. I tried setting it up in FSUIPC but cant find thrust reversers in the list of commands that drops down in FSUIPC. Anyone got any ideas?

I just come it at Vref, on runways long enough.. (kidding)..

Seriously though.. Far as I can tell.. the panel mounted arming switches are for show..I use the default key (F2)

Hi Brett

Ok, one thing I have never figured out is after you use F2 is how to restore the reversers to normal without having to reset the flight.

================================================================

Never mind, I figured it out, just advance the throttle and it restores the reversers, should have thought of that before. Too new to FSX.

F1 key works just fine also! :gossip:

Getting closer to this thing. But would someone please confirm something for me.

I used the Citation X setup utility and set STARTUP to DARK and COLD.

When I start FSX, go to the Citation (Default flight), swtich on both batteries then switch AVIONICS to ON on the EICAS does not come on. The PFD1 and MFD1 come on just fine. The Avionics switch turns all three on and off normally when using ENGINES RUNNING and ENGINES READY TO START in the Citation X setup utility. Just want to be sure I am not doing something wrong and missing a switch/button when turning on the avionics. If I am not the only one with this problem then I have probably found a bug.

I am using the updated version where filenames end with D that PC Aviator notified all of us to download.

You have to turn on all the busses, too.. I think there are three.. bewteen or near the battery and generator switches.

Geez I wish they would document this properly. Thanks for the input Brett, the Bus Tie switches worked fine, I just totally missed them from the lack of documentation. Now I have another problem, the two left hand displays are on but not working properly. HDG FAIL on one, can't remember the message on the other. I'll get this yet.

Thanks again.

This thread is 5 pages long..lol.. I'm pretty sure that's covered a page or two back.. (I'm doing this at another forum too)

Edit.. just checked.. page 3, post #51

Geez Brett, you have done it again. I read this entire thread a couple of days ago and simply missed that post although I ran into the problem after I read it. I don't have time to work with it until Saturday but I will check it out then.

I don't remember seeing the Inertial Guidance systems in step 3 of your info but I'll review it again and probably find it now that I know what to look for.

You must have spent a lot of time with this. I am grateful for your help, it makes the learning curve a lot less painful and frustrating.

John

Guess I was kind of sorry to see this - 5 page! - thread drift down the board . .

One thing is that there are very few repaints for the Wilco/Feelthere X vs. the Eaglesoft model. There is I think a paintkit.

Don't get me wrong, the few that are on avsim aren't badly done - just not my cup of tea. I like the real life ones you see e.g. on airliners.net that are standard factory or typical corporate jet (without logos etc). Would be great if someone like Sean Doran - who can't do Cessna factory or any GA repaints superbly - had this a/c and added a few more paints. Would do them myself of course if I knew how . . .

Thanks dominique :wavey:

Expat.. There is a specific sequence to follow.. I'll give you a brief list:

1-Batteries on (both)(and the bus switches (all of them))
2-Standby power on
3-Fire up both inertial guidance systems (align position)
4-fire up the APU (make sure the APU generator is engaged)
5-Engage external power (brings the APU online)
6-Turn the avionics on

AFTER the inertial guidance align lights go off.. switch them both to 'Nav'

NOW... at he FMC panel.. set your initial position. If you have not touched it yet , it's easy.. you can see the bottom/right button saying something like "Pos Init".. click it. Now, you'll have several references to use. The only one that seems to work, is the top one. Click the top/right button and wait a few seconds. If the HSI and Attitude Indicator don't come to life.. then click one of the other refernces on the FMC, and quickly re-click the top one. It seems to be the one that works. Remember, if you're not tuned to a nav-aid, you'll still get the red 'X' on the HSI, but it will no longer say, "HDG FAILED". Sometimes, it takes extra time for the Attitude Indicator to kick in.

Now you have a working HSI and Attitude Indicator, and could fly around without the FMC..

Let me know when you get this far.

Thanks JFail/John for noting this post and thanks guys for noting all bus switches must be on. I now have gauges! (well, all but the engine readouts screen, its still off).

I took this beauty for a lap around the patch and it is one polished JEWEL!!!!

All the alarm sounds, all the working, functional switches, the extremely nice jet soundpack... This dang thing is an extreme adventure!!!

<--- my first payware biz jet... I see an addiction coming on.. a good one. :d

I'm still having all kinds of problems getting this thing to fire up the engines from the cold & dark start or engines ready to start. Works great from engines running. I am obviously missing something time and time again. I have gone over the manual so many times I can recite it from memory but still can't get them to fire up. I have read and re-read the procedure in the front of the manual as well as the checklists in the back. I get to the point where you turn on the ignition and start, the right engine spins up but then shuts down after about 5 seconds.

I have gone all thru suggestions from Brett_henderson and others experiences but no luck.

I can't figure out for the life of me what I am doing wrong. Just "venting" from frustration, I'll get the damn thing yet. Persistence usually pays off but my persistence is running out (LOL).

John

the right engine spins up but then shuts down after about 5 seconds.

Have that problem all too often in FSX. Cure is often fuel cut off. You can add a keystroke, e.g. "F" which toggles the fuel supply on and off.

. . . another thing, I had it happen once with the CX, you may not be getting any APU current - check the gauge. I shut down and restarted the APU and think the engines started OK after doing that ..

I'll quote myself from earlier in this thread..

After getting the APU running, I set (and leave) the bleed crossover on "crossover" ..

Make sure both ignition switches are set to 'normal'..

Then, the start buttons will fire them up :wiggle:

I'll bet the one thing you're overlooking, is the two fuel cut-offs (red switches on the pilot's side, just left of HIS center)..

That should do it..

expat,.. The fuel cut-off problem you mention is ususally CAUSED by these add-ons (when you save a flight, cold-n-dark), for other aircraft.

The red, fuel cutoff switches should take care of it.. also.. make sure your mixture (yoke or joystick or key-stroke.. however you do it), is not set to cutoff. I know jets don't use mixture.. but the mixture function in MSFS kinda carries over into turbine ops.. and if it's pulled all the way out.. jets and turbo-props won't start.

Thanks John.

I'll go through and read that as well.

I couldnt log into Wilco (lost password, couldnt get a new one, emailed for one, they said to go to their new forums, I thought I had).

I have at least flown it once, but havent figured out how to get the engines running again.. lol..

Also, has anyone in FS2004, figured out how to get the engine readout screen running? Everything works but that. (and the engines).

:faint:

Bill

I tried out the Citation X sample flight tutorial by N. Herrera in post 97 today. Works perfect. He did a wonderful job on it. The only glitch I ran into was starting the right engine. I did not have the ignition switch all the way up. When I corrected that the engine started fine. I highly recommend the tutorial to newbies (and probably to some experienced people also). I sure learned a lot.

Wilco Citation X FA animations?

This is great, finally a forum where one can discuss wilco Citation x: I too bought it form PCAviator, how could one say no to such an offer? I installed it and my problems started; First graphics I hadn't installed SP2 in a fresh install of FSX std. Since then I have been working with PCAviators' support all through christmas to try to fix my issue that the FA doesn't move at all in the eyecandy models; (They did at first, but for some reason or other, they don't anymore) The VIP animations work where I've tested in St. Monica. Despite various reinstalls of the Citation X disabling UAC in my system Nothing has helped. Worse yet is thet I've send several support requests to Wilco and I get back not very pleasant answers " Your problem hasn't been reported by other users; Therefore we will find it difficult to assist you!???...I've even asked for a refund...Still waiting for an answer. It's a shame! I've followed all steps in order to get the FA's animations to show/move; Just yesterday I got an animated FA on the default texture, but only on that one. The FA was/is frozen in the middle of the aisle just behind the cockpit opening all the time with the other eyecandy textures.

I just want the animations to work; I own a copy of Legacy which uses the same animations ( Manual says so) And the FA animations in Legacy work to the letter.

Sorry to change the subject matter on this thread.Hopefuly someone can enlighten me?

Bernardo
