  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Working on De Vlijt (Texel).....

For me there is no need to make it drivable as in that case you should make a panel or VC and I don't think the use I would make from it, would justify the additional work.

Sorry Cees, but ships aren't my thing. Perhaps the Nathional Archive in The Hague can help you.

True, but the national archive only has drawings of the original ship, not of the conversion done in the thirties. I'll see how far I can get with a few pictures.

another sloop like the 'Johan Maurits van Nassau' is the 'HR. van Kinsbergen'....

as i said it's another Sloop, and looking at images is remarkably similar.....

Admirable progress, great initiative

Following this thread, from the beginning has been exciting to say the least.

Cees, needs a ship - so off he goes and makes a beauty. That's praiseworthy dedication.

Well done indeed Sir, and as with all such worthy projects a steadfast group of people building up with help, encouragement and support. This is the way to progess our hobby forward. Bravo to all those involved.

I only hope that sometime in the future, we'll have a chance to combine efforts for another awesome project.

Working on the Cheb scenery for Milton's amazing Avia aircraft has revealed the huge need for new scenery objects - especially for historical projects. Cars, trucks, buses, trains, buildings, vegetatation; the list is endless and the need - very great.
Many folk would be pleasantly surprised at how relatively easy some of these things are to create.
Some may take 30 minutes, others 30 hours, but its all worth every second spent.

The fun doing so, and the sense of accomplishment gained, creating an object for the first time is indescribable.

and Nigels right, once you have the basics theres always that sense of "now what?", so off you fly (if like me using maps) and every now and then you'll spot something on the map and decide to bring it to life.... currently.... i've got about 5 buildings to finish off, one's a terminal for Romeo-Delta (RDaniell), the other is a new Hangar for me, the remaining 3 are a BOFORS, Hispano-Suiza .404 'turret' and a Defense bunker.... the latter 3 for a project i'm working on.....

Thanks for the inspiring words guys! I'm having a great time making these objects. I have to get away from the readme's and the traffic of De Vlijt, De Mok, Buiksloot and Schellingwoude from time to time, and this helps to put the mind to 'rest'. Soon the four mentioned Dutch bases will be available.
Here's the progress on the sloop, a new set of wheels for the landsverk, and the Landverk itself. It will be texturing time in the near future! For now I'm going to stop. I'll visit my father this afternoon. Let's see if he recognizes me this time.

Know the need for change of tempo all too well. Helps keep us focused.

Both models look fantastic - looks like we'll have some swapping to do.

If 1930's visiting traffic is welcome at Texel, I'm sure something Czech can be arranged fairly soon. :icon29:
