World Flight

As a side note, I am picking up a lot of FSX rewards doing this flight. Kinda neat I guess. Still need to install the Visit Series Paul mentioned before.

Rubber wings??? How'd you get those? :costumes:

And we'll need to know how you earned the "bus ticket home" award as well...

BTW, when you install the visit series, it looks at all your previous flights and credits you with whatever you've already earned.

The rubber wings came from Tutorial 4. The bus ticket home was earned from doing the "Cessna engine out" Swiss flight I believe.

Made it to Belem, Brazil (SBJC). Mostly uneventful flight.

Moved along down the coast to Sao Luiz (SBSL). ATC vectored me in behind a Piper Cub on final. Had to plod along to keep distance.

Another short flight along the Brazil coast. This time to Parnaiba (SBPB). The rudder pedals felt a bit sluggish on final. Will check it out at first light.

Made it safely to Fortaleza (SBFZ). Bit surprised to see a two-story office building on final to rwy 13!

Made it to Fernando De Noronha (SBFN). It’s as far as I can go before making the flight to Ascension Island. I’m looking at about 1100 miles. Too far for the Goose unless I try to outfit it with a temporary center (cabin) tank that would hold about 350 gallons. I’m tempted to ship the Goose over to Africa and maybe rent a King Air to cross the Atlantic.

Hopefully I won't need a paddle or any flotation device. :kilroy:

I made arrangements for the Goose to be shipped across on a Brazilian tanker. I will have to change my flight plan though as she is steaming to the Cape Verde Islands, not Ascension. Bit sad seeing her all tied down on the deck ready to sail away. The seagulls seemed to be enjoying the spectacle anyways.

Looks like I will have a little time to figure out my plans.

Canso/Catalina Moses.... If I get home before you launch I'll try to keep you company

or maybe eastbound in one of Jens' big boats..

Rob

Thanks Rob. I probably won't be able to move along until the weekend though.

I don't have many addon aircraft installed in FSX so I am stuck on this "using the default aircraft" thing right now. Odd, I know.

Finally arrived in the Cape Verde Islands. Chartered a 737 to Sal Island. The Goose arrived a couple of days ago and is moored at a pier not too far from the airport (Amilcar Cabral Intl-GVAC). Will check her out first thing and figure out a new game plan.

After a long trek over the Western Sahara, I made it to Tindouf, Algeria (DAOF). The landing was a bit hairy as the wind shifted a couple of times on the base leg so I eventually made a nominal downwind landing on runway 26L. Oh, and there were no lights of any kind. Phew!

Sweet!

Ha, this is funny because I am also in the middle of a round the world trip in the Goose, also starting in TX!

Actually, I'm flying with a friend on-line who is using the MAAM DC-3. We are doing it more for site seeing than speed though. We went down through central and south america before heading to Ascension Island.

I used the Goose the whole way. I figured I could take everything off the plane not necessary and let him haul it in the DC-3, while I added some auxiliary tanks inside the plane (adding the weight to my load). We are in Africa right now, approximately where you are at. Maybe we'll see you in the skies! :mixedsmi:

Fantastic Cratermaker. What are the odds of two long-distance Goose flights that started in Texas? :)

For the most part it has been a nice diversion from real life stress. Good luck with your flight!

Short flight up to Tinfouchy (DA13) to pick up some avgas.

Note: Duenna shows it as DA0D.

Made it safely across the border to Tunisia (DTTZ-Tozeur), after a long flight across the better part of Algeria. A tailwind component helped keep the fuel usage in check.

Good stuff, Moses! I like how you hitched a ride on that tanker. Good thinking. I heard they have good food on those ships too. Watch out in Africa. That two-bit tin-horned general we double-crossed a year or so ago is still mad. Then there's Achmed...

Just let me know when you get to Egypt, Moses.

I just can't wait for the Parting of the Red Sea. :jump:

bon voyage, Mike.
