That was a remarkable campaign that was waged over the great German port and colony at Tsing Tao. There was a sizable naval contingent of ships, they were sent home, but the rest of the people and troops stayed ..where would they go? and a long battle was fought with the Japanese army, with some naval engagemets with remaining units as well. It had been Germany's hope to have TsingTao be their Gibralter in the East and they bult to last, many beautful buildings, wide avenues in the European styel, really a european city. A forgotten part of the war and of history. Germany has quite a few colonies in the Pacific....and dreams of Empre.
Germany has some 4000 troops, the Japanese beseiged with 23,000 and the British sent a force of some 1500 to keep an eye on things. The seige lasted two months and eventually the city reverted to China in 1922.
