NAS Alameda, CA KNGZ for FSX

Does it come with AI traffic?

Oh Yeah! Our version is set in the Early to mid 1980's time period. I have done custom Liveries for VMA-133, VA-303, VA-304, and VR-55. In addition, there are a lot of Transient aircraft, and fresh out of the Depot jets undergoing return to service flight test. The Hangars you see in these screen shots are only places holders. The Photo real is part of the ORBX FTX NorCal package. I will take a couple of screenshots with out the ORBX to show what it will look like then. Standby.

That is cool that it includes AI traffic. I am a bit of a noob on AIFP, having said that, I noticed that I can change the association of a flight plan to a different AI aircraft.
I have SDK installed and in the tools drop down in FSX, there is a box called explorer, from there I can actually change any of the scheduled aircraft and do a fly now if I pull up
a flight plan that originates at that airport, I will say pushback and I can see it moving back and then taxi out for eventual takeoff.

My hope is that it will work okay without ORBX. Fingers crossed. :engel016:

Well I wouldn't abandon Richards version if you don't have the full ORBX NorCal region! Richard has done a lot more Poly work than I, and it shows in the quality of his version when you take away the Photoscenery. Here are a couple more screenshots. One is bare bones, the other with Bluesky.

I still have plenty of work to do. The key for me, will be to include my own photo real backround, this way it will become fully independent of ORBX.

Richard,

In attached pic, I have several A7 AI's made by IAN and they show in the scenery however, when I program them to take off they push back then disappear, poof :dizzy:

Could it be that from where the parking spots are that the taxi lines are broken up and not complete? I did some research about AI aircraft disappearing when they are programmed to leave
and then disappear and one comment I saw was something about the taxi ways (lines) or paths out of the chute and to the runway maybe broken thus no continuity to the runway.

Broken links possible

I believe that Ian said that in my 2.X versions I had broken links and told me about Fault Finder which I have been using since. I now have V3.0 almost ready to upload. I downloaded a lot of DOD Airport design docs and tomorrow will add to the parking spots. Right now 3.0 has NO broken links at all. When I add new parking, I will be sure that all the links are connected. I spent a lot of today trying to add that brown rectangle with the Landing Area on it. I created it in Xara and then exported it to a bmp. Then imported it into Sketchup; exported as a .dae (Collada) file. Imported it into MDLX and created an FSX BGL. All is good? Nyet!! I was able to import it as a library object and add it in ADE but though it is in the ADE file and even compiles with no errors, when I open FSX its not there. Any clues from anyone who knows more than I do about this? If I can't get any help then I am going with 6 helipads "H"'s and I'm done with it. I will try Ian's AI A-7s and see if they taxi like they're supposed to. I like the AO-177 moving, will be trying a plan for Kittyhawk created on Google Earth like the Cimarron was. According to RTTM its a lot of trial and error to get it exactly at the pier, but if you want it to back up then at the end of the compile, it should say "ferry". BTW Woogey, you really have done a beautiful job with yours. I like mine too. I will probably try and figure out how to get the railroads across the estuary with trains on them if its possible to do. The ADE vectors don't work for me for either roads or railroads. Very disappointing since I spent a lot of time plotting them from Google Earth 1993. Its now "midwatch" here so I'm gonna "hit the rack". TTYL ya'all.:encouragement:

Richard

Richard and Grey Eagle ( ref your PM ), sorry guys but your AI are not going anyware, just check'd 2.5 and there are still no Runway links, even if all other links are connected and there's no problems with the traffic file, AI wil just dissapear if there isnt a runway link, ive done some before and after screens to illustrate what needs to be done with the ADEX file.

ideally, the second runway should also be connected the same way making sure there are no unconnected taxi routes, your fault finder will pick these out once you've laid down your runway links.

cheers ian

KNGZ NAS Alameda Version 3.0

It's finally done! Although I want to do some custom buildings as soon as I learn more Sketchup, here is the complete airport with all the scenery AND every link connected and no Fault Finder errors. Attached is a shot of the new fighter/attack parking spots (8) in the correct diameter according to the DOD directive as are the P-3 spots on the apron by the seaplane lagoon. I have also added a lot more scenery across the estuary following as closely as possible the 1993 Google earth photo. Also added a few ground polys and scenery in the shipyard area. It's been a lot of work but for me a labor of love all the way. Be sure to carefully see the README. There are two versions: one with static ships and one without so that there would be no conflict at any piers.

I think I can see enough of the buildings using Google Earth and photos on http://www.panoramio.com/ to build, scale and map textures in Sketchup.

Shots like these can be mapped and cropped to fit the dimensions of whatever shape you make in Sketchup. Or you can find freeware textures and enhance in Paintshop Pro or other paint programs then apply them to your buildings.

Sketchup Buildings

I would be eternally grateful as would I know a lot of guys here if you are offering to help create custom buildings in Sketchup for our airport. The first two I would really like are the front gatehouse and the main entrance building. There are a lot of pictures on the web and I have downloaded them I could supply a zip folder full. Are you willing to do these two and see how they work and fit? Then would be the real control tower. Thank you for the reply.

V3.0 NAS Alameda

I installed the static ships V3 version and as I take in the sights and view the new scenery below, I see the Carrier but no oiler. I did see what looks to be a frigate sorta
underway - at least away from the pier. I also see two water towers - is that normal?. I'm pretty sure I looked in the area in your pics for that oiler and didn't see it. I installed the static ships files to the scenery folder. Otherwise, great job. Thank you for the ever evolving NAS Alameda scenery :encouragement: Looks like you did build up the area across the bay with more structures - would that of been O&R Depot?

Moved beacon a little

Richard,

Hope you don't mind, but I moved the beacon just a tad closer to the edge of the hanger based on this photo.

Hey Gray Eagle,

The static ships are CVA-64 at Pier 3, 2 container ships at the O&R piers and a Spruance DD (under your arrow) also across the estuary. The USS Cimarron, AO-177 in the photos is one of the 2 ai ships I have in my no static ships version. Sorry for the confusion. I am still working on the ai ships. They appear, get underway, come back but pier orientation is still a work-in-progress to get right. I have feelers out to RTMM which instructions I am using for my ai ships.:banghead:

Great move on the beacon no problem. Yes there were 2 water towers that I saw in the distance in a photo and I placed them in the scenery where they looked like they were.

Enjoy,

Richard

A Few adds and corrections

After the question about the water towers, they are there but after careful examination of photos in Google Earth, I have them in the wrong spot and will fix that. I did an extensive pan of Google Earth both in 1993, 2000 and 2015 I found them where Woogey has them in his NAS. See attached photo from GE.

Also, I noticed that the static Connie is in both versions and should not be in the no static ships version so I am going to remove it. Finally when I do these changes later, I am going to add the East Gate entrance and Webster Avenue and a few buildings. Also tweaking the beacon tower position like Gray Eagle pointed out. Just when you think you are done...LOL. Watch for the new upload later. Please continue to go over it for me, guys. Thanks. My old boss used to check my estimates...he said not because I was not a good estimator but when we make or calculate something, we see what WE think is there. He also said, "I don't care who made the mistake...it cost ME money. Good food for thought.

Thanks,

Richard

When I saw two red/white checkered water towers practically side by side, I was a little bewildered.
I guess the AI oiler is a WIP for you so maybe that is why I didn't see it. When I didn't see it; I was beginning to wonder how I hosed up the installation..:indecisiveness:
Glad to see that this project just keeps getting better and better...Thanks Richard for all that you put into this. :encouragement:
