Well, based on the reading, sounds like you are then approaching the realism.
Thanks, Milton-
I kind of figured that was what I needed to adjust- Those X Y Z co-ords are relative to the engine locations that are defined in the aircraft.cfg file, right?
Here's how she looks before adjustments... -Mike Z.
Mike Z...
I like the paint job on your Tigercat. Where can I find that. Is it compatible
with Miltons F-7F?

That's the way to do it Mike.
AZ1USN, for the effects, you can do as Mike is doing. Copy this effect (or the A26 one) from the effects folder and rename it, then change this statement in teh aircraft Effects section:
startup=fx_Cranky_Howard changing its name to whatever you wish.
Then change these statements in the effect wherever they appear in Emitter sections:
X Offset= -0.810, -0.810 // horizontal offset from engine location
Y Offset= -0.110, -0.110 // Vertical Offset from the engine location
Z Offset= -1.250, -1.250 // Fore/aft offset from the engine location
The flames are a little different Z location than the smoke but you can adjust accordingly.

Ok...I got the part about changing the name of the startup effect to grumpy_tigercat
Now were and what do I do with the info below.
X Offset= -0.810, -0.810 // horizontal offset from engine location
Y Offset= -0.110, -0.110 // Vertical Offset from the engine location
Z Offset= -1.250, -1.250 // Fore/aft offset from the engine location
I didn't see an effects folder for the F-7F.
(I was using the Howard acft.cft file to cut and paste into the acft.cfg
of the F-7F acft.cft in the effects section. From there on...I got lost. Sorry.
Thanks for pointing me to the F-7 repaint.
1. Create a copy of the effect and rename it for the F7F - Done right?
2. In the aircraft.cfg, change the effect to the one you will be using - Done?
3. Now open the effect and make changes in the Emitter X, Y, Z offsets to match up with the F7F engine locations. There will be 2 for smoke and 2 for fire, I think.
EDIT: Attached is a quik Effect setup I did for smoke; I killed the fire part. Download, unzip and put the fx in your Effects folder. Then use this statement in the aircraft.cfg:
startup = fx_msf7f_start
Replace or comment out any other startup=statement you may have.
The WIP shots look very good. Flat panels for pasting gauges, switches, and radios would be fine. 3-D gauges are nice, but eliminate the possibility of making a custom VC panel.
